What do you get when you bring Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Cardi B and Lili Reinhart together? A totally epic movie.
The first full trailer for Hustlers just dropped and it’s everything we hoped for. Based on a true-story, the movie follows a band of street-smart exotic dancers who decide to use their wits and special set of skills to get back at their Wall Street clients in a sort of Robin Hood scheme. Spoiler alert: They make a lot of money.
But, as the trailer above shows, not everything goes according to plan. When their get rich quick scheme attracts the attention of the police, the women are forced to defend the fact that they’re not technically doing anything illegal. Let’s see if the cops feel the same way.
Aside from the obviously enjoyable plot, the film features J.Lo’s incredible moves and sense of humor (“When I was a kid, I always wanted to work with animals. I was close.”). Then, of course, there’s Wu’s bangs and Reinhart’s very Riverdale doe eyes.
Madeline Brewer (The Handmaid’s Tale), Julia Stiles (Riviera), Keke Palmer (Scream: The TV Series), Mercedes Ruehl (Power), Trace Lysette (Transparent), newcomer Mette Towley, Frank Whaley (The Good Coop) and rapper Lizzo are also along for the ride. Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist scribe Lorene Scafaria is set to direct and also penned the script, which was based on a 2016 viral New York Magazine article by Jessica Pressler.
Hustlers rolls its way into theaters this September. You better believe we’ll be there.
