TBH, they're both fire

Whether you're a die-hard TV viewer or a Meghan Markle enthusiast, chances are you’ve come across Suits—if not on purpose, then probably by accident. (Seriously, it's everywhere.)

Running from 2011 to 2019, the legal drama delivered nine binge-worthy seasons (plus a few spin-offs) and introduced viewers to unforgettable characters like the smooth-talking Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), legal whiz and college dropout Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) and fan-faves Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty) and Rachel Zane (Markle). The show follows Harvey and Mike as they score big wins in court—all while keeping one massive secret under wraps: Mike never actually went to law school.

While the series earned its loyal following over the years, it was in 2023, thanks to its arrival on Netflix and Peacock, that Suits smashed records, becoming the most-streamed show of the year.

But all good things must come to an end—or at least move aside. According to a fresh study by Nevada-based injury lawyers Ladah Law, Suits is no longer the reigning champ of legal TV dramas. The show that just knocked it off the top? The Emmy-awarding winning series Better Call Saul aka the beloved Breaking Bad prequel.

To determine which show stands supreme, researchers analyzed IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes scores, Google search volumes and social media popularity for the ten most popular law-themed series. The verdict? Better Call Saul swept the competition, scoring an impressive 9.0 viewer rating from nearly 700,000 reviews on IMDb, and boasting a near-perfect 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. As a result, it now holds the title of the top-rated legal drama ever.

For those who missed Better Call Saul during its six-season run, the series digs into Jimmy McGill’s (Bob Odenkirk) journey as he transforms into Saul Goodman, the “criminal” lawyer who’d later become the right-hand man of chemist-turned-meth-dealer Walter White.

Set six years before Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul explores Jimmy’s scrappy early days as a champion for low-income clients, wrestling between his morals and ambition. Alongside him is the ever-resourceful Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a former cop turned “fixer” whose skill set Jimmy comes to rely on.

So, are you team Suits or team Better Call Saul? Lucky for fans, both are now streaming on Netflix.
