To be fair, I was cackling like a hyena

I love to laugh as much as the next man, but it's a special occasion when a show or movie has me genuinely cackling. Enter: Ali Wong's latest stand-up special, which is currently occupying the number eight spot on Netflix's top 10 shows list.

The hour-long comedy set, titled Ali Wong: Single Lady, is Wong's funniest Netflix special to date (it's her fourth comedy special with the streamer, FYI). In fact, as I lay in bed this weekend howling along to her rapid-fire jokes and signature raunchy stories, my fiancé had to come into the bedroom and check on me.

"Are you...okay?" he asked nervously. "This...is...so...funny!" I choked out between giggles. You guys, I'm telling you to watch this special.

I've thoroughly enjoyed Wong's previous stand-up, but there's something about this appearance that just takes things to the next level. Coming off a very pubic divorce in 2022, Wong isn't holding back while sharing her sexcapades and her brilliant thoughts on dating.

According to Netflix's Tudum, "Known for her unvarnished takes on everything from the challenges of monogamy to what makes feminism awful, Wong takes the stage once more, this time in a new phase of her life—she’s in her divorced mom era. In Single Lady, the comedian opens up about postdivorce life and the quest for love. And while she didn’t perform in her signature animal print this time, Wong’s still got plenty of sizzling takes and life advice for everyone."

Wong has been on a career hot streak lately, particularly with the success of her Netflix show Beef, which earned her an acting Emmy, NBD. Now, this follow-up special has certainly kept her top of mind with comedy fans like myself.

And while I may have made my future husband nervous with my hysterics, I felt way less self conscious the next night as I lay in bed and heard cackling from the other room—I knew exactly what he was watching.

Ali Wong: Single Lady is now streaming on Netflix.
