Throughout his illustrious movie career, Leonardo DiCaprio has acted out some pretty tough scenarios: freezing to death in the Arctic, surviving a grisly (and grizzly?) bear attack and getting lost (possibly forever) in a dream. But when it came to shooting his new movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, there was one aspect of his role that he truly hated.
According to the 44-year-old Oscar winner’s longtime makeup artist, Sian Grigg, his fake mustache drove him crazy while filming.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Grigg explained, “The mustache drove Leo mad, because I had to leave it really long and it always went in his mouth.” That does, in fact, seem annoying.
She went on to say that this frustration proved to be useful while DiCaprio was filming a certain scene: “It was so hot out and the mustache kept going in his mouth, and he’d be spitting it out. He did the same thing in the scene as they filmed ‘off camera’ when he was supposed to be losing it a bit,” she recalled. “It made us laugh as he kept spitting it out and the wig was quite long as well.”
