Prince William wants the world to know that he's ready to tackle the issue of homelessness head-on.

In case you missed it, the Prince of Wales's two-part docuseries, Prince William: We Can End Homelessness, premiered on ITV on October 30 and 31 (and it's available to stream on Disney+). It explores the beginnings of Homewards—a charity launched in partnership with The Royal Foundation—and follows the first year of the royal's five-year plan to end homelessness in the U.K. Although it features several insightful interviews with charity workers and advocates fighting against homelessness, it was the prince's candid remarks that stood out most.

While discussing his determination to help the unhoused population, the 42-year-old father of three said, “There has to be a better way than just accepting that homelessness is there and we just live with it. I don’t believe that, and I don’t—I won’t accept that.”

He added, “Homewards is challenging the theory that we can’t do anything about homelessness. There is definitely something we can do, and we need the business community to be engaged and go, ‘Do you know what, on my doorstep, this is actually happening.’ And it’s good for the community, but it’s also good for business, and it’s good for my business to do something about it.”

Homewards was launched in June 2023 and, according to the official website, it aims to "to raise awareness of the breadth and complexities of homelessness and galvanise communities to get involved." The website also explains the team's five-year commitment to get on "a path to ending homelessness for good."

The prince noted in his documentary that he's nervous about reaching such an ambitious goal, but it hasn't dampened his enthusiasm. He explained, “I think I’m feeling optimistic. I’m feeling enthusiastic. I’m nervous about the challenge and scale of what we’re going to do, and last thing you want to do is start something that you can’t finish.”

He continued, “I’m not sitting here saying I’m going to sort of, you know, solve the entire world’s homelessness problems. But I am going to show people how to prevent homelessness. Providing high-quality temporary accommodation that will lead on a pathway to more permanent accommodation, allowing people to thrive, prosper, rebuild their lives and go on to be a part of the community and feel like they belong somewhere. And that is crucial.”

Keep up the great work, William.
