We all know Princess Diana for her social impact, poise and long-held “fun royal’ status. But did you also know the late Princess of Wales nearly added “actress” to her résumé? Yep.
Kevin Costner recently revealed that Princess Diana was attached to star in the sequel to his 1992 hit The Bodyguard and—get this—Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson was the one who convinced her.
As Costner, 64, told People, the role Princess Diana was supposed to play was similar to the one Whitney Houston portrayed in the original film. But the late princess and Costner would never have come together if it wasn’t for good ol’ Fergie.
“Sarah was really important. I always respect Sarah because she’s the one that set up the conversation between me and Diana,” Costner said. “She was the one that set it up, and she never said, ‘Well, what about me? I’m a princess, too.’ She was just so supportive of the idea.”
