Every U.K. Mother’s Day—celebrated by the Brits on Sunday, March 30 this year—it’s hard not to feel a bit of FOMO as a result of all the sweet and thoughtful tributes to the “mums” in everyone’s lives. The royals are no exception: Kate Middleton posted a video message to Instagram honoring Mother Nature; Princess Eugenie shared a pic with her two sons. But we especially loved this stunning tribute from Kate’s brother, James Middleton, to his wife, Alizée Thevenet. Yes, she’s pictured holding their one-year-old son, Inigo. Still, our eyes went to something else: Her gorgeous red sweater.
Kate Middleton’s Brother James Posts Super Striking Mother’s Day Pic—& I’m Obsessed with His Wife’s Fisherman Sweater
Did she borrow it from her spouse?

The Instagram posts shows Alizée standing in what appears to be the British countryside as the family dogs run loose in the background. Her long blond hair matches Inigo’s locks, but it’s her oversize tomato red knit sweater that caught our attention. Paired casually with jeans, it’s cozy and chic. (It also nails the fisherman trend, which is in vogue for spring.)
Still, a question: Is the sweater actually hers? Or is it a look that Alizée borrowed from her husband James? #TBT to the moment the pair made their relationship Instagram official back in 2019: James appears to be wearing the exact same classic style.
As for the photo posted this weekend, he captioned the snap: “Happy Mothers to all the amazing Mothers but an extra bit of love for this one,” he wrote, nodding to Alizée before signing off with a heart emoji and a flower emoji, too. It adds to the sweetness that Alizée potentially borrowed this particular look from James’s closet. Aw.

About their royally-adjacent relationship: James and Alizée tied the knot in September 2021 and welcomed their son, Inigo, in September 2023. In a photo carousel, also posted to Instagram, announcing his birth, James wrote: “No matter how prepared I thought I was…I was not prepared for the overwhelming emotion of meeting Inigo for the first time and the love for my darling Alizée as we became three.”
Now, if you need us we’ll be seeking a similar cozy red sweater.
