He's a pro at this

Prince William may be the future king, but first and foremost, he’s a dad—and it shows. As a father to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, the Prince of Wales has plenty of experience connecting with kids. So when he recently had a heartwarming exchange with a young boy, it was no surprise that he handled it like a total pro.

Last month, Prince William visited Toxteth in Liverpool, England, to meet with young students and learn more about local community groups supporting youth in the area. That’s where he met Mohammed, a student from St. Nicholas Catholic Academy, who wasted no time asking the royal a very important question.

“Hello, are you the king?” the boy asked. William’s response? A sweet and humble, “No, I’m not, no. I’m his son.” (Referring, of course, to his father, King Charles III.)

Rather than leaving it at that, William made sure to turn the conversation back to Mohammed. “What’s your name?” he asked. “Mohammed. How are you, Mohammed? Nice to see you. Did you have a good day at school?”

And if that wasn’t cute enough, another clip from their interaction showed the two taking a candid selfie video together.

“Say cheese!” Mohammed excitedly said. “Cheese!” William responded with a big smile.

Another sweet note about the interaction is that Prince William seemed to take a page out of his wife, Kate Middleton's parenting playbook. William slightly bends down to Mohammed’s level throughout their conversation. That simple gesture is a well-known parenting trick used by Middleton, and it’s been seen among other royals too, from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Princess Beatrice and Sarah Ferguson. Even global popstar Taylor Swift has been spotted using this tried and true method.

Looks like William is taking notes from the best—and absolutely nailing it.
