September has arrived, and so has the much-anticipated September pick for Reese Witherspoon’s book club.

On September 3, the 48-year-old actress took to Instagram to unveil this month's literary gem. In the video, she first teased fans by only showing the side of the book, before finally revealing the vibrant cover in all its glory.

“Drumroll please…. The September #ReesesBookClub Pick has arrived,” she captioned the post.

So, what’s the pick? It’s The Comfort of Crows by Margaret Renkl.

Oh, and this isn’t just any ol’ book club pick. It's the big 1-0-0! That’s right, this month Reese’s Book Club is celebrating its 100th pick.

“Our 100th @reesesbookclub pick, #TheComfortOfCrows by @margaret.renkl is a beautiful love letter to nature and the world around us,” Witherspoon wrote. “Divided into fifty-two chapters, it follows the creatures and plants in Margaret’s backyard over the course of a year, capturing both the joy of nature’s ongoing pleasures and the grief of fleeting moments.”

The Legally Blonde alum followed up the announcement with a carousel of heartwarming snapshots of herself posing with and hugging Renkl like they’re long-lost besties (because, plot twist, they kind of are). Renkl wasn’t a stranger to Reese—she was her high school English teacher.

“As my high school English teacher (!!), Margaret had a profound impact on my life, making it incredibly special to have her as our 100th author,” the Big Little Lies star shared.

Renkl, for her part, was equally moved. In a touching social media post, she reminisced about the young Reese, writing, “This fierce little thing was a force for joy and justice from the moment I met her when she was all of 15 years old.”

The New York Times opinion writer continued, saying, “For The Comfort of Crows to be Reese’s Book Club’s 100th pick is the honor of my life. And teaching Reese Witherspoon as a teenager was one of my life’s greatest joys.”

The Comfort of Crows is a year-long journey through Renkl’s backyard that explores the balance of joy and grief in the natural world, as described on Amazon. From the resourceful crow on New Year’s Day to the bluebirds revisiting their springtime nest in December, each chapter is a tender, poetic reminder to savor the beauty around us.

Reese says it’s a goodie, so it’s good with us.
