Another day, another glimpse of motherhood from Meghan Markle: The Duchess of Sussex took to Instagram this morning to share a garden-bound pic of herself carrying her daughter, Princess Lilibet, 3, on one hip, while her son, Prince Archie, 5, clings to the other. The trio looks chic and loving—but that’s not the only thing that stood out: The pic offers a clear glimpse of both Archie and Lili’s red hair and it’s too cute.

Per Harry, it's a Spencer family trait

The trait is one they inherited from their father, Prince Harry. The Duke of Sussex famously has red hair, which Harry himself noted likely comes from his late mother Princess Diana’s side. On a 2023 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, he was asked if he sees any family resemblance in his kids. His reply? “Definitely my mum. The ginger gene is a strong one!”
He continued on: “The Spencer gene is very, very strong. I actually really, genuinely thought at the beginning of my relationship [with Meghan] that, should this go the distance and we have kids, that there’s no way the ginger gene will stand up to my wife’s genes, but I was wrong! Go gingers.”
The pic shared by Meghan today is definitely proof. Meghan captioned the garden-based snap: “Every day is a love story,” a nod to the sweetness of an everyday moment with her children.
Other details that stand out: Meghan’s twinning moment in a matching sunhat with Lili, but also their sweet straw baskets, which notably, are different than the ones carried in the pics posted by Meghan last week of the duchess and her kids picking strawberries.
All we can say is the excitement is building as we near Meghan’s spring launch of her As Ever brand. But if we get regular behind-the-scenes pics of the Sussex fam, the wait is worth it.
