As a Boy Mom, I’m Kind of Obsessed with Princess Eugenie’s Gift to Herself for Her Birthday

She's a kid at heart

Princess Eugenie just turned 35 on March 23. To celebrate her birthday, the royal bought herself a kid-approved gift that every parent can appreciate.

Over the weekend, Princess Eugenie proved she’s a total boy mom when she went to the mall with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, and her oldest child, August, 4. They made two purchases at the LEGO store, including a plane set for August. The second was an orchid set from the brand’s botanical collection, which retails for $50.

According to Hello! magazine, Princess Eugenie told the shopkeeper that the orchid was a birthday gift to herself. She said, “This one’s for me, for my birthday.”

An onlooker revealed that Princess Eugenie and her family blended in with the public. “They strolled through the store just like any regular family—no security, no fuss,” they told the mag. “It was the perfect time to shop in peace since the shopping centre is quieter in the mornings.”

The source continued, “Princess Eugenie seemed genuinely excited about her upcoming birthday, and judging by her choice of treat—the LEGO Orchid set—she might just be a big fan of building blocks!”

And honestly? As a mom to a little boy myself, I can testify that LEGO sets aren’t just for kids. There’s something incredibly rewarding about building your own creation brick-by-brick, no matter how old you are.

In addition to August, Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank are also parents to a 1-year-old son named Ernest.

Sounds like Princess Eugenie had a great birthday—and that no matter how many candles are on the cake, she is just a big kid at heart.
