Chrissy Teigen is following in Jennifer Garner’s footsteps by sharing her cooking fails on Instagram.
Today, the 39-year-old model shared a brand-new video on social media as part of her new cooking series, titled Is It Stupid?!, where she tries viral recipes and determines if they’re worth the hype. This time, Teigen tested out a trending side that will enhance any dish: Parmesan roasted onions.
In the video, Teigen explained where she found the recipe. “It looks like something is going really viral on TikTok right now, and we need to play...Is It Stupid?!” she said. “It involves an onion thinly sliced over, really, what is a bed of grated Parmesan cheese and people are absolutely losing their minds.”
The model added, “I will say as a lover of onion rings, I was a little bit intrigued by this one.”
After discussing the dangers of using a mandolin, Teigen sliced the onion, laid out foil and sprinkled the cheese on a baking sheet. She proceeded to season the dish with paprika, garlic salt and pepper before adding a drizzle of olive oil and putting it in the oven.
“I just took a peek at it in the oven,” she said. “I didn’t want this to work out because, well, I'm a hater. But it looks pretty good.”
This is where things went awry. When it was done, she tried to separate the foil from the cheese and realized that she made a grave mistake. Teigen added, “Me thinks I should have used parchment, like everyone said.”
At the end of the video, Teigen asked her 6-year-old son, Miles, for reassurance. She said, “It’s OK to mess up, Miles, right?” To which he responded, “Yeah.”
As for the finished product? Teigen concludes: “Thumbs up. Great. Don’t do it on foil.” Lesson learned.
