Prince William Posts Surprising Birthday Tribute to IG: 'You Are a True National Treasure'

Britain's favorite baking expert, Dame Mary Berry, is celebrating her 90th birthday today, and she got a surprise tribute from none other than Prince William.

The food writer and chef appeared on a special episode of The One Show to mark her milestone birthday, and the show's co-hosts, Roman Kemp and Alex Jones, teased "plenty of birthday messages," including one from a special friend who claimed Berry "taught him everything he knows about baking." As soon as Jones introduced the first tribute by the Prince of Wales, Berry looked genuinely surprised and gasped in disbelief before taking a look at the footage recorded by the royal.

In the short clip, the prince said, “I want to wish you a very happy 90th birthday. You are a true national treasure and we’ve loved working with you over the years. Have a fantastic day today."

His Royal Highness also quipped, "I dread to think who’s cooking your cake and the criticism they might get, but good luck and I hope it goes really well." In response, the British baking icon smiled and blinked back tears as she said, “What an honor.”

The price reposted the clip of Berry's reaction to his IG Stories and wrote, “Happy birthday, Dame Mary!”
