Body Language Expert Predicts ‘The Bachelor’ Star Grant Will 'Choose to Stay Single'

I wouldn’t be surprised

Season 29 of The Bachelor has been a doozy. For one, fans find that former pro basketball player Grant Ellis is incredibly indecisive, and quite a few contestants—including Zoe and Carolina—have capitalized on this by trying to dominate his time. Not to mention that super awkward group date that bred even more tension and drama amongst the women. Considering all the chaos that went down, it's tough to predict who the winner will be. But according to body language expert Inbaal Honigman, this season's bachelor may walk away without distributing that final rose.

Honigman analyzed Ellis's non-verbal gestures in the finale preview and noticed clear signs of nerves and discomfort. Speaking on behalf of Slingo, she said, "If a list existed of all the different body language cues that spell out 'uncomfortable', Grant would be hitting every single one."

Honigman continued, "At one point in the preview clip, his lips are tightened, which signifies distaste. Grant's eyes are lowered, showing that he's uncomfortable. He rubs his hands together, a mark of nervousness and a desire to move on. His hand then flies to his waistband, adjusting it, and we see him fiddling with his cuff. Clothes fixing moves are signs of nerves, but also of a desire to be liked."

Honigman also addressed his attempt to hide his true feelings, adding, “We then see him biting both his lips, which shows his nerves, and a desire to suppress emotions. Grant then grabs one of his hands with the other and tugs, which is a soothing gesture and demonstrates feelings of frustration. He then purses his lips together and moves them to the side—this can be interpreted as a sign of strong disagreement. This uneasy body language tells us without a shadow of a doubt, that he would like to be anywhere else, doing anything else, with absolutely anybody who's not associated with the show.”

In the preview, these tell-tale signs continue when an emotional Ellis takes his final car journey. He's seen rubbing his face repeatedly, which Honigman describes as an "extreme self-soothing touch" that's "meant to comfort at a time of high stress, anxiety and tension."

"Grant is incredibly nervous," the expert concluded. "He doesn't know what the right decision is, but he does know that he doesn't want to be the one making it. As much as he hates the idea of letting either lady down, chances are that he would choose to stay single."

FYI, if this does happen, this would mark the second time a bachelor has walked away without choosing a winner. Former bachelor Brad Womack famously turned down both of his finalists in season 11, then returned in season 15 and selected Emily Maynard as the winner.
