What the Dupe: We Compared $36 Supergoop Against $9 Trader Joe’s Sunscreen

Rain or shine, you should be wearing your sunscreen whenever you step out the door. But do we really need to break our bank accounts in order to protect our skin?

On this week’s episode of PureWow’s new Youtube series, What the Dupe, Matthew Boyd tests out and reviews the popular Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen ($36) and Trader Joe’s Daily Facial Sunscreen ($9). (Okay, when did Trader Joe’s start selling sunscreen?!)

In the new episode, Matthew tries the sunscreens and gives them the official face test. He applies the products on both sides of his face and compares the results. Does Supergoop!’s sunscreen really live up to the hype? Or is there a better, more affordable dupe out there?

1. Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40

After blending out the product, Matthew didn’t expect the sunscreen to have such a dewy finish and it definitely caught him by surprise. “This is not an unseen sunscreen, are you serious?” he asks.

However, he did really appreciate how there is no white cast, which is really important. “It’s great for a lot of different skin types.”

2. Trader Joe’s Daily Facial Sunscreen SPF 40

Instantly, Matthew acknowledged the texture of the Trader Joe’s sunscreen and the Supergoop! was noticeably different. “It does blend out really well,” he says. “The application was a little bit different, but I think that the finished product is very similar.”

Want to know how long both sunscreens lasted? Watch the video above to find out and hear Matthew’s thoughts on if the dupe works just as well (or even better).
