Let’s face it: It’s a bob world and we’re just living in it. The curtain bob took over our feeds in February, while the Italian bob made a huge comeback in March. So what’s the coolest cut for April? Let me introduce you to the Prada bob, the most luxurious cut that’s already been sported by Joey King and Simone Biles. If you’re looking for a seasonal hair change, I chatted with professional hairstylists to persuade you to give this trending haircut a shot.

What Is a Prada Bob?
A Prada bob is a short, blunt haircut. The style was coined by celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos, who's worked with stars like Joey King, Demi Moore and Lindsay Lohan. As Ruby explains further, “It’s all about precision—minimal layers, no fringe and a clean line that feels instantly expensive and high fashion. It takes inspiration from classic Sassoon one-length cuts, with a modern luxury edge.”
Why Is It So Popular Right Now?
I already mentioned how popular any bob haircut is these days, and this latest version is no different. It evokes sophistication, chicness and overall Anna Wintour vibes. Per Azadganian, “When has the bob not been an essential look throughout the decades? The trends of this haircut simply change with the line, layers and partings. It gained popularity in the ‘60s with the iconic shot first presented by hairstylist Vidal Sassoon. It’s such a versatile and flattering haircut that suits any face shape when length and weight are placed correctly. It carries a sleek structured shape that is everything from timeless elegance to sexy and sleek.”

Can All Hair Types Try a Prada Bob?
The Prada bob works best for straight, fine to medium and/or wavy hair in order to get the sleek appearance. According to Ruby, the bob can help “showcase the blunt line and structure with minimal effort.” However, those with curly hair can also get in on the fun with a different variation. “If you have curly or textured hair, you’ll need to be okay with wearing it curly—trying to blow it out every day to match the sleek Prada bob vibe isn’t realistic and won’t hold the shape right,” says Ruby. “That said, a blunt bob on curls can look amazing in its own way—it just becomes a totally different style: bold, defined and super cool. It’s all about embracing the texture and working with the shape, not against it.”
How to Ask for a Prada Bob
The easiest way to achieve this look at the salon is to show your stylist some reference photos, specifically Joey King at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. If they’re not familiar with the term ‘Prada bob,’ Azadganian suggests simply asking for a short blunt cut that swoops inward just above the jawline or lower on the neck depending on your bone structure. He adds, “Also ask for an exaggerated side (or middle part) and a soft rounded edge to the line of the haircut.” From there, your stylist may customize the look based on your hair type and existing length.

How to Style a Prada Bob
The experts say shape is key. Once you apply a smoothing blowout cream, Azadganian recommends using a blow dryer and small round brush, curling the ends inward toward the chin. And to truly achieve the Prada bob trend, complete the look by going over each section with a flat iron before adding some hairspray for a sleeker, shinier look.
