Whether you’re into red light therapy masks or microcurrent devices, skincare tools are everywhere these days. One brand that PureWow readers can’t seem to get enough of has a new product in their lineup, so naturally, we needed to investigate. Let me introduce you to the NuFace Fix MicroWand, a tool small enough to fit in your bag (or slip into your pocket). It’s designed to smooth fine lines and tighten skin—basically, providing a surgery-free facelift—in under three minutes, and here at PW we don’t take these claims lightly. PureWow’s Senior Manager and Content Lead Kate Kesselman tested the skincare wand to see if it’s actually worth it, chronicling her experience with original before/after photos and video.

How We Tested NuFace FIX MicroWand

Kesselman has never used a NuFace device before, however, she is very familiar with trying out buzzy skincare gadgets, from face sculpting tools to smart facial-cleansing devices. After researching the FIX MicroWand, she was curious to give it a shot. She’s been using the wand every other day for the last two weeks or so. “I find using it in the morning helps my skin look and feel more awake,” she tells me. “I like that it’s very small, lightweight and can easily be taken places. Bigger devices can cover more skin, but this one feels like it can really target specific wrinkles and get into small crevices.”

What Does the NuFace FIX MicroWand Do?

NuFace

The microcurrent device aims to depuff eyes, plump lips *and* smooth fine lines in just three minutes per area. The small design is meant to be taken on-the-go and be used whenever you need a pick-me-up. According to the brand, it has been FDA-cleared and clinically proven to be an effective treatment, using gentle microcurrent to refresh under-eye, add fullness to your pout and leave a blurred-like finish to your skin overall. Similar to their other devices, this one can be connected to the NuFace smart app to show your progress, offer specific treatments and provide tutorials so you get the most of the tool.

An Honest Review of NuFace FIX MicroWand

How Do You Use the NuFace FIX MicroWand?

Once you finish cleansing your face and applying the FIX Line Smoothing Serum, choose a treatment mode depending on what you’re focusing on first (eyes, lips or lines). The tool has a built-in timer, so you know exactly how often to run it along each area. When it comes to depuffing, the brand suggests using it along the under-eye, as well as using it to reduce the appearance of crow’s feet, fine lines and any lines in-between the brows. If you’re using it for your lips, run the tool around the lip line, smile lines and any fine lines around the area. You can also use it on your forehead to buff any lines forming there.

The MicroWand also has an auto shut-off feature to prevent anyone from overusing the device. Kesselman tells me, “The device is very easy to use and works at the press of a button. I also love that there are different types of settings for every area of my face. The only deduction I give is that if you have sensitive skin, you need to be gentle, as the electromagnetic currents may sting a bit in certain areas.” (On that note, don’t forget to use an even layer of the smoothing serum to prevent irritation.)

How Long Do NuFace FIX MicroWand Results Last?

NuFace

As mentioned, the brand claims you’ll see instant results in three minutes per area (nine minutes in total if you do eyes, lips and lines). For Kesselman, she was surprised to see some of the claims were true.

NuFace

“The results around my eyes and lips were 100 out of 100. I was surprised how well it depuffed my eyes while also giving my lips a little lift. I’m still not yet sure how well it works on forehead lines, but I think that it will take months to really see progress. It may have to work in conjunction with my other skincare products,” she tells me.

The Bottom Line: Is the NuFace FIX MicroWand Worth It?

What We Like

  • compact device
  • portable
  • comes with three modes
  • easy to use
  • great for depuffing

What We Don't Like

  • expensive
  • may sting a bit for sensitive skin
  • no instant results for fine lines

According to Kesselman, the MicroWand is worth checking out. While it is $195, she says the results outweigh the hefty price tag. “It’s worth the money if you are consistent. If you want to use the product as a one-time fix, it won't be worth your money. But if you’re looking to use the product every morning (or every other morning) consistently, and see positive results, then it is definitely worth it,” she shares. “Overall, I found the tool to be easy to use and offer quick results. I find some gadgets take up too much of my time and I never end up using them consistently. This is only three minutes in the morning and I'm good to go. The quick timing has allowed me to be more consistent and see results. I was hoping it would help with my morning puffiness around my eyes and it definitely tackled this area. It also helped reduce any redness.”
