In the era of DTC, viral beauty products, it’s nice to see a resurgence of the beloved brand, Clinique. Whether it was at the mall back in the day, where you snagged a sample of Moisture Surge Hydrator after buying mom a perfume set, or seeing it keep up with the times and taking up space on the shelves at the local CVS, Clinique just holds a special place in our hearts. And now, Gen-Z is learning about its greatness—and it’s about damn time.

After the internet discovered the iconic Black Honey Almost Lipstick a couple years ago, Clinique jumped from millennial nostalgia brand to the French-girl must-have. It even made an appearance at the 2024 Met Gala on Iris Law and has become a celeb fave, including Reese Witherspoon and Cynthia Eviro.

The 57-year-old brand is also a hit for PureWow editors. When I asked my colleagues about the OG brand, they didn’t hesitate to let me know how they really feel. “My mom has always used a Clinique moisturizer, and I have the fondest memories of going with her to Lord & Taylor (RIP) to restock and subsequently fighting with my sisters over the free gifts with purchase,” said  Sarah Stiefvater, Wellness Director. For Alexia Dellner, Executive Editor, Clinique holds a very special place in her life for a makeup milestone: “Clinique was one of my first forays into beauty, and I remember ripping out Clinique ads from magazines and putting them on my bedroom wall. Very nostalgic!” Executive Editor, Dara Katz, agrees: “Clinique embodies all my early teen memories—the sheen of the silver ridged lipstick holder. The smell of Happy. The excitement from my very first makeup counter purchase: the toner, which I bought with babysitting money, not because I had any idea what it did but because my really cool camp counselor used it.”

So if you, like us, want to cozy back up to the proverbial Clinique counter and stock up on some classics, here are seven I think you should snag right now from Ulta, Sephora or Amazon. Or, for old time’s sake, you can always visit the mall.

Whether you have a 10-step or minimal skincare routine, this moisturizer has been in beauty cabinets since 1988. It’s formulated with aloe bioferment and hyaluronic acid that aims to deliver instant hydration and glowing complexion in three seconds. The moisturizer is great for all skin types, specifically dry and/or sensitive skin since it’s so lightweight, creamy and soothing. You’ll also find a blend of vitamin C and E to offer protection against daily stressors (like pollution, stress and lack of sleep).

This lightweight foundation has glowing reviews due to leaving a natural finish and working to reduce the appearance of dark spots in 12 weeks. It’s made of vitamin C, which helps to hydrate and brighten skin, while the brand’s signature technology (aka a blend of polymers) works to glide seamlessly with a brush or beauty sponge without drying up or causing lines. It also contains SPF 15 to protect skin against the harsh rays and has a 50+ shade range that complements all skin tones.

Known as one of their best-selling face moisturizers, this staple product works to strengthen your skin’s barrier. It has a mix of sunflower seed cake, cucumber fruit extract, barley extract and hyaluronic acid, which strengthens and balances your moisture levels. For Senior Director of Special Projects & Royals Rachel Bowie, it’s been a staple for years, “Clinique is a brand that always reminds me of my first beauty product experience. I started to notice a dryer complexion in high school and my mom took me to the Clinique counter at our local department store and I left with their Dramatically Different moisturizer. I would use it so sparingly and it felt so luxe! For me, it's synonymous with my first entry into self-care, but one that was connected to family. (My mom and grandma both used it, too!)”

Aside from the Even Better Makeup Foundation (see #2), this hybrid product promises a natural finish that can last for 24 hours. Whether you use it for full coverage or a spot concealer, it has a lightweight formula that’s breathable, comfortable and blendable for all skin types. FYI: a little goes a long way to achieve any look.

If you want voluminous lashes, this mascara has been around for years. The wand’s design helps add volume and definition, while coating each lash in a dramatic black (or brown) color. It's also dermatologist- and ophthalmologist-approved, making it a go-to for sensitive eyes. Plus, it’s easy to swipe off with makeup remover minus any tugging or pesky flakes.

When I’m searching for a cleansing balm, I want one that removes ALL of my makeup and this one by Clinique fits the bill. It has a lightweight formula that turns from a solid to an oil-based cleanser without clogging up my pores. It has safflower seed oil to break down any makeup (yes, including waterproof mascara). It’s also rich in linoleic acid, a natural emollient known to keep skin feeling nourished.

I can’t complete my spiel about the brand without mentioning the product that had people talking: the Black Honey Almost Lipstick. It has garnered viral success as it leaves a sheer color that works with your natural lip hue. Not quite lipstick, not quite gloss, celebs, editors and reviewers are still obsessed decades later. The shade is so popular, the brand has recently introduced a whole collection dedicated to it with a mascara, lip oil, eyeliner, eyeshadow palette and blush.
