2 Zodiac Signs You Actually Want to Sit Next to on an Airplane

And one that will make your flight miserable

Airplane seating arrangements can be a gamble. Between the legroom, the armrest wars, and the potential for screaming children, there's a lot to consider. But what if you could choose a seatmate based on their zodiac sign? Paging Delta with this million-dollar idea! As a professional astrologer, here’s my official (and extremely unauthorized) guide to the two zodiac signs who will bring bliss to your next flight, and the one that will make you wish you’d bought out an entire row. The best seat mate is no seat mate after all.

The 2 Zodiac Signs You'd Be Lucky to Sit Next To

1. Libra (September 23 - October 21)

There’s nothing more disappointing than having your dreams for a row to yourself crushed by someone taking the seat next to you on the plane. But when that person is a Libra? You’ve hit the jackpot with a polite, respectful and classy seat mate.

Libras, who are sometimes written off as people-pleasers, go to extreme lengths to make sure everyone around them is comfortable, often to their own detriment. You never have to worry about a Libra hogging the arm rest or pushing their seat too far back. If a Libra had it her way, she’d be wearing an invisibility cloak and sound blocker so she could be certain her chewing, page turning or lounging didn’t bother anyone. All jokes aside though, Libras are also excellent conversationalists so if you end up chatting, you know you’ll be entertained until it becomes clear (and not a second too late) that you both need to take a nap.

2. Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)

Another sign that makes even the least ideal travel situation a breeze is a Capricorn. Capricorns tend to be great planners, so though it’s unlikely you’ll be seated next to one who is in a middle seat or last minute shoved into your row, if a switch up does occur, you can trust that they will sit down and immediately pop their sleeping aid of choice so that they can land refreshed. Capricorns are all about productivity so if the flight’s too short to sleep, they’ll likely be catching up on work or politely enjoying their favorite tv show. Capricorns are completely happy in their own world and find it a breeze to entertain themselves. However if you’re the type of person who likes to get chatty with your neighbors, the sea goat will let you know immediately if she’s open to it and cut off the chatter the second she gets bored. There are no awkward pauses with a Capricorn, only clear boundaries.

The One Zodiac Sign to Avoid

Scorpio (October 22 - November 21)

Scorpios love their creature comforts, and they tend to have more travel anxiety than most. Scorpios are very particular about their arrangements while in transit, and are the type to ask the flight attendant for an extra pillow or a double serving of coffee or an upgrade on their headphones. They also won’t be shy about letting you know if you’re doing something that bothers them. If you find yourself sitting next to a Scorpio on a plane and have your friendly smile met with a glare, remember: it’s not you, it’s them. Scorpios tend to be very protective about their immediate environment and have a hard time warming up to neighbors and coworkers let alone random strangers! Don’t take it personally. But maybe ask if that empty seat a row behind is available.
