Happy full moon in Aries! This week exposes secrets, reveals information and changes hearts. Full moons are the peak of a cycle and the full moon in Aries on the 17th forces us to reckon with where we’ve been hyper-independent to meet our survival needs. How can we love ourselves better through asking for support? Is it possible to be more interdependent without giving up hard earned autonomy? This lunation brings a culmination to intentions seeded at two eclipses—the solar eclipse in Libra on October 2nd as well as the total solar eclipse in Aries back on April 8th. What’s coming up now might feel untethered in that eclipse-y way. My best advice is to go easy on yourself. It’s a lot of change at once. But if there’s one thing Aries knows how to do it’s embrace the moment and enjoy the ride.

This week also comes with two planetary vibe shifts. Communication planet Mercury moves from chatty Libra to secretive Scorpio on the 13th, and love planet Venus moves from the deep murky caves of Scorpio to the skydiving heights of Sagittarius on the 17th. The heart is more adventurous but words are scarce under these transits. Let actions speak louder than words.

Your Monthly Horoscopes: October 2024

Cheeky illustrations of a girl of color in a purple shirt and overalls with a baby ram over her shoulders. She is smiling and so is the ram. The overall color is purple—purple background, pink ram with purple horns and the girls is wearing a purple shirt. Her hair is in a messy bun.

Aries (March 21 - April 19)

A full moon in your sign on the 17th means you’re feeling both energized and emotionally raw. Intentions you set last fall around health, identity and maintaining boundaries reach a pivot point. For most of this year you’ve been in an exploratory phase, but now it’s time to make a choice and set clear goals. You’re not the same person you were when you set those intentions which means you have to adjust accordingly. Take note of where you were (perhaps not on purpose) keeping yourself small and challenge yourself to take up more space.

This week’s mantra: “Expand.”

Cheeky illustration of a young non-binary person petting a bull.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)

The full moon in Aries on the 17th is a not-so gentle reminder that it’s time to take a break. If you haven’t already scheduled that day off from work, you might be forced to via sickness or exhaustion. Last fall you entered a new cycle in your closest relationships that came in tandem with a deep need for more rest and space to yourself. You get a progress report this week on how well you’ve been able to maintain those boundaries. If you’re still feeling overwhelmed by others, it’s time to adjust how much you give.

This week’s mantra: “Space.”

Cheeky illustration of identical twins with long dark hair and a statement earrings back-to-back, smirking at each other.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)

The full moon in Aries on the 17th is both celebratory and overwhelming for your social life. The past year has brought major expansion to both your inner circle of friends and your greater community, and now you’ve gotta figure out how to make time for all of it. You may need to practice some conscious curation and adjust your priorities accordingly. Maybe you’ve been networking but not having enough fun. Maybe it’s the opposite. Either way—or even if it's both and—make sure your loyalty is first to yourself.

This week’s mantra: “Focus.”

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

This week’s full moon in Aries brings all the overwhelm you’ve been experiencing around your career and public image to a head. Though many signs point to you growing in that part of your life this year, it might not feel that way on the inside. Or maybe it’s that external achievement isn’t actually healing what’s going on under the surface. Intentions you set around romance, creativity and success last fall are put to the test this week and choices must be made. Sometimes what’s fulfilling has nothing to do with getting ahead.

This week’s mantra: “Full.”

Cheeky illustration of a woman of Asian-descent wearing a sheer coral top with her hair half-up in pigtail puns, the rest down. She is hugging a lion, who is smirking.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)

The full moon in Aries on the 17th is here to light the way to your next adventure. Your healing journey begins with letting go of familiar problems and opening yourself to learning something new. Last fall initiated a new cycle for your home, foundations and family life. This week brings a pivotal point in that journey. Are you surrounding yourself with people who truly have your back? Are you planting roots in a place where you have room to grow? Whatever your mission, the goal is to expand your mind and pass that wisdom on to others.

This week’s mantra: “Wisdom.”

Cheeky illustration with a light blue background of a woman wearing a coral shirt coyly poking out from behind her hands.

Virgo (August 23 - September 23)

This week’s full moon in Aries has you shining light on things you usually like to hide back in the dark, dusty recesses of the proverbial closet. Are those skeletons as ugly as you thought or do they just need some TLC (and a little Windex)? Last fall you initiated a new cycle in your closest relationships and familiar environment and now you’re reaching a turning point. As you pursue your goals, who do you need to have a conversation with? Are there any connections that need to be dissolved for good? Is there anyone you need to forgive?

This week’s mantra: “Absolve.”

Libra (September 23 - October 21)

A full moon in Aries—the sign opposite yours—on the 17th is a culmination of all the work you’ve been putting into one-on-one relationships over the last six months. I’m certain you don’t look at connection the same way you did back in March. Through heartbreak, through falling in love, through learning to speak up for your own needs, you’ve found more alignment. Relationships don’t have to follow a one size fits all to be meaningful. Through opening your heart, you’re approaching a critical moment of gaining even more self worth.

This week’s mantra: “Adore.”

Scorpio (October 22 - November 21)

Welcome to your busiest week of the year! The full moon in Aries on the 17th reveals just how much you’ve been burning the candle at both ends in both fulfilling and emotionally taxing ways. Last fall you initiated a whole new cycle for your health, image and identity, and this week brings a pivotal moment in that journey. What routines are you willing to stick to for the long haul? What items on your to do list can be crossed off and never revisited again? Prioritize what energizes you.

This week’s mantra: “Breathe.”

Cheeky illustration of a Black woman with purple hair on an orange background. She's in a wearing jean jacket, with a quiver strapped across her back and arrows sticking out.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)

The full moon in Aries on the 17th is a peak moment for your romantic and creative life. Whether you’re single, partnered or deep in a few too many situationships, you’re learning to trust yourself and have more fun. Last fall you initiated a new cycle around recovery, rest and getting out of your own way. This week’s progress report reveals how far you’ve come and how you still give into bad habits and self sabotage. The choices you make this week are about letting go and learning to laugh with yourself.

This week’s mantra: “Laugh.”

A cheeky image of a woman of color with dark hair holding a pink goat by the horns. The background is pink and her shirt is darker pink.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)

The full moon in Aries on the 17th shines a light on the ways you’ve created your own home, hearth and foundations over the last six months (and really since July 2023). It’s a homecoming! It’s a family affair! It’s a cute bonfire in the backyard! Though you’re also experiencing some professional success or volatility right now, your heart is drawn to your private life. Last fall you initiated new cycles of friendship and community, and this week you make some choices around commitment and trust. Who is here for your growth journey and who can you update after the fact?

This week’s mantra: “Blaze.”

Cheeky image of a Black woman with blue hair on a light blue background. She's holding blue water in her palms, which is bubbling up and taking shape as her hair.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)

The full moon in Aries on the 17th is a buzzy one for you, Aquarius. Over the past six months you’ve been cultivating your social world and immediate environment and this week it might feel like everything is happening at once. Opening day for the new local bar, a best friend’s launch party to attend, and plenty of extra invitations popping up at the last minute. A new cycle that began for your career and public image last fall reaches a turning point this week as you take on more responsibilities.

This week’s mantra: “Buzz.”

Cheeky illustration of a gender-fluid white person with short-cropped orange hair. They're wearing a light blue halter top as two bright pink koi fish circle their head.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)

This week’s full moon in Aries on the 17th is a revealing one for both your personal finances and your self-worth. How have you been equating your own value with your bank account balance? Last fall initiated a new travel or learning venture for you and this week you have to make a choice about where you’re actually going and what you’re actually studying. The research phase is over. It’s time to get started on your thesis. (Don’t worry, you won’t have to submit it until at least May.)

This week’s mantra: “Question.”
