Today, Duchess Sophie attended the annual Armistice Day service at the Armed Forces Memorial. After the service, the royal paid tribute to fallen military members by admiring the memorial, which is dedicated to the British Armed Forces servicemen and women who have sacrificed their lives in combat.

Duchess Sophie showed respect by wearing an all-black outfit. Of course, she accessorized with red poppy brooches to commemorate military members who have died in war. (The symbolic flowers are a tradition for the royal family in honor of Remembrance Day.)

On Sunday, Duchess Sophie was photographed next to Kate Middleton after the National Service of Remembrance. The duchess appeared to comfort the Princess of Wales throughout the festivities. In nearly every photo, Sophie was standing at Princess Catherine’s side and lending support on what was a potentially stressful return to the spotlight.
