We love a sophisticated updo

Kate Middleton certainly knows how to make an entrance. Not only does she steal the show with her chic fashion looks, but her hair is also styled to perfection—whether it's defined waves or a pin-straight blow-out. This time, the Princess of Wales ditched her signature long waves and opted for a gorgeous new updo, and it's easily one of her best hairstyles to date.

Today, the 43-year-old royal attended the 2025 Irish Guards' St. Patrick's Day Parade at Wellington Barracks, donning a dark green Alexander McQueen coat. She accessorized the number with a matching fascinator designed by Awon Golding (which, FYI, was previously worn by the princess at the same St. Patrick’s Day event in 2019), Ralph Lauren boots and black gloves by Cornelia James. However, it's her intricate hairstyle that caught my eye.

Middleton wore her brunette hair in a stunning chignon by twisting layers of her tresses into a sophisticated knot, which is a big switch from her traditional waves and curls. The new hairstyle also marks her first updo in 2025 so far, after letting her hair down for several royal occasions.

For instance, you might recall how the princess wore her hair in a sleek blowout during her visit to the 'Action For Children' Mother and Baby Unit at HMP Styal last month.

In addition, while attending the National Portrait Gallery in February, Middleton rocked defined, beachy waves, adding volume and dimension to her dark brown locks.

This year's St. Patrick's Day Parade marks a big return for Middleton, who had to skip last year's event due to her abdominal surgery in January. At the time,  Kensington Palace released a statement confirming that the surgery was successful, adding, “It is expected that she will remain in the hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”

Just a few weeks later, the princess confirmed that she was diagnosed with cancer and temporarily stepped back from her royal duties. Fortunately, she has since completed her chemotherapy treatments and returned to work, complete with unforgettable style moments and fabulous new 'dos.
