Buckingham Palace Just Released an Update on Baby Sussex, and There's a Major Clue About Meghan's Exact Due Date Hidden in It

Hear ye, hear ye, royal baby watchers!

Buckingham Palace just released a statement to the media about the forthcoming arrival of Baby Sussex, and it seems Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are hoping to keep a low profile during the birth of their first child.

The “operational note” states that, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby.” This most likely references the Global Sussex Baby Shower and @SussexRoyal Instagram posts about the specific charities they’d like well-wishers to make donations to in lieu of sending baby gifts.

The statement continues, “Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.” So, don’t hold your breath for some big Lindo Wing reveal of the newborn like that of Kate and William for the births of their three children.

It seems the rumors that the Duchess of Sussex is opting for a private home birth at the couple’s new home of Frogmore Cottage might hold (er, break) water…and we probably won’t hear any news on the exact date that Markle gives birth. This statement seems to imply the royal couple will wait a day or two before making an announcement to the public (at which time, we’re going to need a breathing coach because we won’t be able to contain our excitement).

Operational notes like these are common for the British royal family’s communications office to release ahead of important events and engagements in order to let the press know how they’ll be able to cover things.

Interestingly, though, on their website, the office states these operational notes are released about “5 to 10 days prior to the event.” Um, HELLO! Does this mean baby Sussex is coming in the next five to ten days?! It sure sounds like it to us…

The official 10 day countdown to Baby Sussex begins.
