When it comes to her 11-month-old son, Amy Schumer isn’t taking any chances—even if it requires a last-minute name change.

The I Feel Pretty star, 38, just dropped a bombshell on an all-new episode of her podcast, 3 Girls, 1 Keith: She and her husband, Chris Fischer, have changed their son’s name.

While the couple originally chose “Gene Attell Fischer,” Schumer confirmed that they switched his middle name to “David” to avoid years of potential teasing. “It’s now Gene David Fischer,” she said, according to CNN. “It was Gene Attell Fischer but we realized that we, by accident, named our son ‘genital.’” Well, that was unexpected.

Podcast guest Claudia O’Doherty (who starred alongside Schumer in Trainwreck) agreed with the actress, saying, “My mom pointed that out to me, actually. My mum was like, ‘Amy’s called her son genital.’”

They’re obviously referring to the fact that “Gene Attell” sort of sounds like “genital.” Although we don’t know what made her realize the name sounded like part of the human anatomy, we can’t help but wonder if Schumer has been playing a bit of Mad Gab.

The actress tied the knot with Fischer in February 2018. They welcomed their first child, Gene, in May 2019. Although the baby’s original name was a tribute to comedian Dave Attell, the couple still honored him with the replacement, “David.” It’s not only Attell’s given moniker, but it’s also Fischer’s middle name.

Leave it to Schumer to go…there.
