When I look back on my son's first eight months of life and remember the little moments, a lot of them are from sitting in this glider: breastfeeding, watching him smile in his sleep, his facial expressions as I read him a book, watching him drift off in my husband's arms and so much more. The best nursery glider to have is a comfortable one that checks all your preference boxes because it's a key piece of furniture that will get a lot of love during your child's early years. I wanted a cozy, functional and cute nursery glider and that's what led me to the Nurture& Glider Plus (was $1,499, now $1,374). It comes highly recommended by fellow parents and MomTokers, but there's no denying it's a pricey investment. So, is it really worth the hype—and money? After using it for nearly a year, I have some thoughts.

What Is the Difference Between the Glider and the Glider Plus?

While the aesthetic design of these two chairs are very similar, there are some differences in functionality worth noting. The Glider does not have lumbar support like the Plus version, nor does it have the 200-degree swivel, so the movement is more limited. The standard Glider also doesn't come in the bouclé upholstery.

My Review of the Nurture& Glider Plus

The Pros

At 42.5 inches high, 33 inches wide and 38 inches deep, this is a pretty big chair. I wouldn't consider it oversized, but the width of the seat and arm rests are comfortably sized for you to sit with your baby and a breastfeeding pillow, to pull your legs up or sit an extra kiddo on the other side. The bouclé material is pretty soft and my baby loves to touch it while he's eating. The back of the chair comes up nice and high, too, so your head isn't grazing the top edge of the glider and your whole body is fully on it.

It was always a vision of mine to have a bouclé glider in my nursery. I love how it adds texture to a room and looks like cozy little nook beside a cute lamp. I've been using this glider with my baby since he was a newborn and even took some newborn photos in it. I was definitely worried about bouclé being tougher to clean, especially on a white chair, but to my surprise, the material cleans quite easily. The brand says the materials are considered stain-resistant and the bouclé is listed as "performance," and designed to withstand wear, tear and stains. I will say that the material can still get dirty, but any spots have been easy to get out. I just spray a little Dreft onto the spot and let it sit for a couple minutes and dab it clean; works like a charm.

Now onto the biggest draw of the glider: the power reclining and adjustable back and head support. On the side panel, you can recline and decline the chair, adjust the position of the headrest, tweak your lumbar support and charge your phone.I truly adore how I can just lower my hand down to the side of the armrest and recline the chair, plug my phone in and adjust the head or back support. The convenience of it has become so second nature to me, that when I sit back with my son in any other chair, I go to recline it out of habit. This is so useful for late night feedings or rocking your baby to sleep or snuggling after bath time. When I first got this glider, I rolled my eyes so hard at the high price, but this feature was a huge selling point—now, I don't know what I'd do without it.

The Cons

As much as I adore it, for a chair at this price point, I'd like a little more storage options. Like a side pocket to hold my phone or a cup holder to hold my water bottle. The fact that there are zero storage spots on this recliner is super frustrating, because it takes away from its otherwise stellar functionality.

I also wish the power recline was quieter. While it isn't super loud, it makes enough noise that if my baby is just about to shut his eyes and I decline the chair, it catches his attention. This detail is one that makes me really irritated at bedtime.

The Bottom Line

This chair is truly fantastic and I can honestly say that I love it. But, if you don't have the budget to spend over $1,000 on a glider, then don't waste your time trying to talk yourself into it. Trust me, I was convinced I needed to get all of the best-of-the-best, most expensive baby products on the market in order to be a good mom. Spoiler alert: As long as your baby is happy that's all that matters.

I truly think you could find a glider or other style of nursery chair with similar functions for a price more in your budget. However, I'm obsessed with the bouclé texture, the easy-to-clean material, smooth swivel glider bottom, power recline and back adjustment and the fact that I can charge my phone in this guy. I always feel super secure, too, because the bottom of the chair is so heavy, it feels very stable and high-quality.

The brand also offers a great warranty and return policy should you change your mind or need a replacement part/chair. You get a 60-day risk-free trial of the glider (and all Nurture& products), and if you want to return it after it's been used, the brand asks that you donate it to a local charity and with the proper proof, you will get a full refund. If you choose to return it unopened, contact the brand to begin the return process through UPS, FedEx or freight carrier.

Overall, the Nurture& Glider Plus chair is a win in my book (and my nursery). It has most of the qualities I look for in a comfortable chair and it looks cute, too. Plus, not only do I think it will last well after my baby is grown up, it's chic enough to even throw in my living room as another seat (or in the next nursery for future baby number 2).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a Glider Worth It For a Nursery?

In short, 100 percent yes. I've spent countless hours in my glider and investing in one that provides comfort and support after holding a baby upright all day is a must in my book. Gliders come in a variety of options as far as capabilities go, from reclining, to cup holders to lumbar support and so much more.

Is a Glider Better Than a Rocker?

A glider has more movement than a rocking chair, which makes it a better choice for being adaptable based on the way your baby sleeps. For example, if you need to turn a little because of a light glare or swivel to avoid a creek in your floor alerting your baby awake, these are functions a glider can provide that a rocker cannot. I also think that gliders move more smoothly than rockers, as well. However, if you have a smaller space, rockers are usually a little smaller and most don't have a reclining option like this glider, so it may be a better choice depending on your baby's room.

How Do I Pick a Nursery Recliner?

Consider your personal preferences for comfort, like adjustable back support, material, plush or firm cushioning, reclining depth and other qualities that could make or break your pick. Again, it's important to invest in a nursery glider that gives you everything you want since you'll be spending so much time in it.
