Breckenridge began acting in her teenage years and has had a fairly successful career since, with supporting roles in teen movies such as Big Fat Liar and She's the Man. Her career really took off after starring in the 2007 series Dirt, which led to her recurring role in the first season of the popular series American Horror Story. She even came back to guest star in a completely different role during season three. Not long after, she joined the cast of The Walking Dead and also appeared in HBO’s True Blood.

All of her success eventually led to a leading role on NBC's hit show This Is Us where she remained for five years, and now, of course the lead role as Mel Monroe in Virgin River.

Martin Henderson is an important part of the Virgin River cast, taking on the role of Mel Monroe's love interest, Jack Sheridan. Unlike his character, he hails from New Zealand and, therefore, has an accent. The 49-year-old actor kicked off his career playing Geoff Thomas in the long-running Australian soap opera, Home and Away, which then led to him starring opposite Naomi Watts in the horror mystery, The Ring. Henderson's additional credits include Grey’s Anatomy, Bride and Prejudice, Inside the Box and...wait for it...a role in the music video for Britney's Spears's "Toxic." Additionally, Henderson took on the role of Wayne Gilroy in the 2022 horror film X. Talk about a career so far!

Colin Lawrence plays a major role in Virgin River, which is important to note if you are doing a little binge-watching before beginning season six. But Lawrence is also a pro in the supernatural/sci-fi genre at this point if you ask me. Beginning his career in 1994, one of his breakout roles was as Hamish "Skulls" McCall on the rebooted Battlestar Galactica series from 2006 to 2009. Afterwards, Lawrence landed the part of Jason Evans on the popular series Endgame, which was another pivotal moment in his career. Additional credits for Lawrence include Watchmen, Fifty Shades Darker and Riverdale, where he played Coach Clayton.

Lauren Hammersley portrays Charmaine in Virgin River, who encounters some relationship issues of her own with Jack after she breaks the news that he isn't the father of her twins. Hammersley first started her career with bit parts on on shows like John Doe, Single White Spenny and Saving Hope. She also portrayed Adele in the series Orphan Black, and has netted roles in Remember My Story, Stag, Bloody Mary and Christmas Island. When Hammersley is not in front of the camera, the Canadian actress enjoys doing photography.

After portraying Dr. Brick Breeland on Hart of Dixie, Virgin River seemed like a fitting follow-up for Tim Matheson, who is a triple threat actor, director and producer. He is perhaps best known for his role as Eric Stratton in the 1978 comedy Animal House. Some of his long list of credits include roles on CBS's Madam Secretary, NBC's This Is Us and USA Network's Burn Notice. As far as directing goes, Matheson has directed episodes of The Last Ship, Burn Notice, Criminal Minds, Without a Trace, Cold Case and more. A packed resume indeed.

Annette O'Toole is an American actor, dancer and singer-songwriter, and while you probably remember her from Smallville, where she played Clark Kent’s mom, O'Toole has a long list of credits as well. Born in Texas, O’Toole stars as Hope McCrea, the gossipy mayor who is married to local physician Vernon “Doc” Mullins. Separately, O'Toole has also had roles in a variety of projects including Bridge to Terabithia, The Partridge Family and A Futile and Stupid Gesture.

Jenny Cooper plays Mel's sister, Joey Barnes, on Virgin River. But Joey isn't her first big part—how could I forget about her four-episode run on 24? Additionally, she's made several appearances on our television screens in smaller roles which include Wendy in Fast Track, Molly in Jake and the Kid and Sarah in Strange Days at Blake Holsey High. Some of her other credits include bit parts on Ghost Whisperer, CSI: Miami, Scandal, NCIS and Grey’s Anatomy, amongst others. Cooper currently resides in Encino, California, with her husband and their three children.

If Lexa Doig looks familiar, it’s probably because she’s been all over Hallmark and in addition to appearances in shows like Flash Gordon, Traders, CI5: The New Professionals, Continuum, Arctic Air, The 4400 and Stargate SG-1. On Virgin River, Doig takes on the role of Paige Lassiter, who moves to Virgin River with her son, Christopher (Chase Petriw), in an attempt to escape her abusive husband. While Doig did not appear in season three, she made a return to the series in season four.

Yes, Benjamin Hollingsworth starred alongside Meghan Markle in Suits. That fun fact aside, the 39-year-old actor graduated from the National Theatre School of Canada (NTS), a prestigious three-year acting conservatory program in Montréal, in 2006. This led to some smaller parts on shows like Degrassi: the Next Generation and Trapped. From there, Hollingsworth landed the role of Mario Savetti on Code Black from 2015 to 2018, which saw him nominated for Best Actor in a TV Series Broadcast in the U.S. in 2016 at the Golden Maple Awards. Additional credits include Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules and Can't Buy My Love.

Although Daniel Gillies only appears in flashbacks in Virgin River, there’s no denying the New Zealander caught my eye. Completing his education at Unitec, Auckland, where he studied Performing and Screen Arts, Gillies began his career in theater where he won a Chapman-Tripp Theatre award for Best Actor for his role as Jimmy Sullivan in The Godboy. Over the years, Gillies has also appeared in The Vampire Diaries, Masters of Horror, NCIS and other shows. Some of his film credits include parts in Spider-Man 2 and Bride and Prejudice.

Gillies is married to fellow actor Rachel Leigh Cook, and they share two children together, Charlotte Easton (11) and Theodore Vigo Sullivan (9).

Although Lynda Boyd's character passed away in Virgin River season three, she returns in flashbacks in later episodes. Hailing from Vancouver, Boyd is best known for her roles in the films Final Destination 2, An Unfinished Life, She's the Man and On Thin Ice with Diane Keaton, making her a threat in film, stage, television and animation.

You probably know Zibby Allen as the actress who plays Jack’s sister, but she’s also recognized for playing Nurse Zibby in Grey’s Anatomy and Winter Maddox (AKA Madam Goo Goo) in Disney Channel’s A.N.T. Farm. An actor, musician, writer and producer from Northern Ireland, Allen and her husband, Adam, currently split their time between Los Angeles, Vancouver and Edinburgh, Scotland.

In addition to being a key part of the Virgin River cast, 29-year-old Sarah Dugdale has also appeared in several television movies, like Sugar Babies, Stolen Daughter, Sorority Murder, Woman of the House, The Bad Seed and Death of a Cheerleader. A Canadian actress who is bilingual in English and French, she plays Lizzie, who was originally introduced in season two, but was given a much larger role in seasons three, four and five. Season five saw Lizzie striking up a romance with Doc’s grandson, Denny, who put her troubled past to the test, so we will have to see how things play out from here.

Grayson Gurnsey is an up-and-coming actor, who first got his big break as Cody Stewart in Saints. At just 23-years-old, Gurnsey has quite the resume in the entertainment industry. His career began at age 8, when he was accepted into an adults-only acting class. Some of his other credits include appearances in television movies, like The Legend of Davy Crockett and Family Pictures. Gurnsey has also made appearances in Garage Sale Mysteries, Van Helsing and The Art of Racing in the Rain.

You may recognize Mark Ghanimé as Dev from The Bold Type or Dr. Jamie Albagetti from Emily Owens M.D. Wherever you know him from, the Canadian-Lebanese actor actually had no plans of entering the entertainment industry as he originally wanted to be an entrepreneur. In 2004, however, he received an opportunity to be a background actor in the 2004 movie Chasing Freedom, which then catapulted him into guest roles in several popular shows, including Smallville, Supernatural, Arrow and Quantico.

Virgin River is Kai Bradbury's biggest role to date, followed by Motherland: Fort Salem. After discovering his passion for acting early on, Bradbury now plays Denny in Virgin River, the young man who shows up on Doc’s doorstep claiming to be his long-lost grandson. Unfortunately, Denny goes down a bad path in season four when he starts stealing medicine from the clinic and getting getting illegal prescriptions. But season five brings about some clearer answers about his behavior

Kandyse McClure made her introduction to the Virgin River lineup in season five, taking on the role of Preacher's love interest. The 44-year-old Canadian actress began her career in television after graduating from West Vancouver Secondary School in 1998, and since then, she has made appearances in over 70 film and television projects including Higher Ground, Battlestar Galactica and Ghost Wars, where she played Dr. Landis Barker.

Jessica Rothe will be joining Virgin River in season six, where she plays the younger version of Mel's mother, Sarah Monroe. Born in Denver, Colorado, Rothe began her career appearing in a variety of independent films and stage productions, landing her big break with a starring role in 2016's La La Land. In the years since, she has had roles in romantic drama films like Forever My Girl and All My Life. She also had a starring role in the Prime Video series Utopia in 2020.

30-year-old Callum Kerr will star alongside Jessica Rothe as Everett Monroe, the younger version of Mel's dad. Training in theater and starting his career as a model for various different brands like Adidas and Jaguar, Kerr first began gaining attention for his acting prowess through his role as PC George Kiss in the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks. This led to a part as Christopher Foxworth in the Lifetime miniseries Flowers in the Attic: The Origin, which was based on the novel Garden of Shadows, and from there his acting credits have continued to grow. Separately, Kerr is also a country musician on the side, releasing his debut single "Tequila Therapy" in 2023.
