After devouring the first season of Netflix's The Night Agent, so many questions raced through my mind. What will Peter's next mission be? Will his new boss be another version of Farr? Will he be framed a second time? What will become of him and Rose?

Now, after a nearly two-year hiatus, I can confidently say that my questions have finally been addressed...but not without sparking a new set of burning queries. This season is explosive, thrilling, action-packed and filled with enough suspense that made me hold my breath on several occasions. I was especially happy to see that Peter (Gabriel Basso) and Rose (Luciane Buchanan) still have enough chemistry to heat up a sauna, and Peter's tough-as-nails new boss, Catherine (Amanda Warren), is a nice addition to the mix. The performances, per usual, are also on point. But as much as I enjoyed getting sucked back into the world of espionage, I'll admit, there were a few moments of annoyance and frustration. And it's all due to Peter Sutherland.

In case you need a refresher, Peter manages to thwart an assassination attempt in season one, which earns him a quick promotion to Night Agent. So now, in season two, he gets his first assignment as part of the top-secret organization, but things quickly go south when the mission gets compromised.

Now, it's worth noting that only a few months have passed since Peter got betrayed by his former boss, escaped a nationwide man-hunt and learned the truth about his father. And yet, there's no indicator that he's taken some time to process it all or heal. Rather, he jumps right into training and moves on to the next assignment for Night Action. And sadly, I was able to predict how this would backfire before even getting to the finale.

I won't share details of course, but any fan who saw what Peter went through in season one would agree that he was in no condition to take on a new, high-stakes mission right away. For one, he's (understandably) paranoid about his boss's true allegiance because he's still so shaken by Farr's actions. And when it comes to Rose, he becomes careless, impulsive and, worst of all, more susceptible to blackmail.

Yes, in a sense, the Peter that we all know and love is still there. His intentions, for the most part, are good. But as Rose eventually points out, this version of him seems to be spiraling. Now, Peter doesn't hesitate to do questionable things for the greater good. But what worries her—and me, TBH—is how far he's willing to cross that line in order to save more lives.

Naturally, this opens the door to so many potential theories, and most of them don't look too promising for Peter. Will Rose stick around and continue to bring out the best in him? Or will they cut ties for good? Will Peter make a habit of compromising his values for the sake of the mission? Or will he insist on doing things his way? Regarldess of where this leads, I will say, season two is already setting the stage for a wild third season. Especially now that the real villain has been revealed...

Season two of The Night Agent is now available to stream on Netflix.
