Is Pearson Hardman hiring? Because word on the street is that there’s a new Suits show in the works at NBCUniversal.

In a breaking report from Deadline, it was revealed that the creator of Suits, Aaron Korsh, is working on a new legal drama set in the same universe. However, the show is not being billed as a “reboot” or a “spinoff,” and it is likely that the series will contain an entirely new cast of characters (at least, in the beginning). Sorry, Meghan Markle fans.

Reporter Nellie Andreeva writes: “Deals are still being negotiated, but I hear the project is expected to be fast-tracked with a serious commitment.”

Suits ran for nine seasons, from 2011 to 2019, and the first eight seasons were recently uploaded to Netflix, where the show quickly shot into the site's list of most-watched shows. Just last month, the procedural broke a major record, becoming the first-ever show on the site to garner 3 billion minutes viewed for seven weeks straight. (However, Stranger Things still holds the record for most minutes watched after a total of eight weeks.)

It is likely that this streaming success on both Netflix and Peacock (where the series was also uploaded) has been the cause for talks of a new show. Not to mention, Suits alum Patrick J. Adams got fans buzzing last month, fueling rumors of a reboot after he posted a behind-the-scenes photo from the show.

As dedicated fans of the series might already know, a spinoff, titled Pearson, was released in July 2019, but it was canceled that same year after only one season.

Now, creator Korsh seems to have faith in another crack at expanding the Suits universe. While responding to the streaming success of the show, he wrote, “I always thought we were underestimated, but it turns out, even I underestimated #Suits. It’s good to be the King.”

According to Andreeva, the Suits series that's in the works is being pitched similarly to a CSI or NCIS offshoot. Los Angeles is being considered as the backdrop for the series.
