Kings and queens, gather 'round because I’ve got some juicy news straight from Westeros. Our beloved House of the Dragon is officially coming back for a third season on HBO. Yes, you heard that right—the show hasn’t even premiered its second season yet, and the hype is already so real that they’ve greenlit another one.

The renewal isn’t that much of a surprise given critics are already raving about season two, calling it “breathlessly exciting” and “a return to Thrones' golden age,” according to the press release.

Francesca Orsi, HBO’s Executive VP, also raved about the team’s efforts.

“George, Ryan, and the rest of our incredible executive producers, cast, and crew have reached new heights with the phenomenal second season,” Orsi said in a press release. “We are in awe of the dragon-sized effort the entire team has put into the creation of a spectacular season two, with a scope and scale are only rivaled by its heart. We couldn’t be more thrilled to continue the story of House Targaryen and watch this team burn bright again for season three.”

Although the network didn’t dish out many details about the Game of Thrones spin-off’s third installment, we can probably expect to see more of our favorite characters and maybe even meet some new ones. And let’s be real, we’re all here for the costumes, the intricate plots and the jaw-dropping CGI dragons.

For those who might need a refresherHouse of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood book from the A Song of Fire & Ice series. The series takes us 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones to dive into the dramatic saga of House Targaryen.

The upcoming second season boasts a star-studded cast including Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke and Rhys Ifans, among others. Fans will also see new faces like Abubakar Salim, Gayle Rankin and Freddie Fox joining the ensemble.
