2 Zodiac Signs That Care Way Too Much About Other People’s Opinions

When it comes to caring about what others think, there are few zodiac signs more attuned to the opinions of those around them than Libra and Pisces. Both empathetic and perhaps too aware of social dynamics, these two signs are driven by a desire for balance (Libra) and unconditional love (Pisces).

As we come out of this fall’s eclipse season—with a lunar eclipse in Pisces (September 17) and a solar eclipse in Libra (October 2)—the energies of these two usually humble signs are much louder than usual. In fact these eclipses are actually shifting a lot of both sign’s people-pleasing tendencies and needs for affirmation. As a Pisces sun and Libra rising myself, I know a lot of this from personal experience! Let’s get into what makes Libra and Pisces the signs that care the most about other people’s opinions (and how that’s not always a bad thing!)

In the great modern meme-ification of astrology, Libra has gotten a pretty bad rap. As the cardinal air sign, most Libras are super smart with enviable taste and people skills. But instead of being honored for their attention to detail and commitment to balance, they often get written off as flaky flirts. Think: Paris Hilton the savvy businesswoman vs. Paris Hilton the airhead persona she plays on TV.  

Most Libras are anything but airheads though. They’re highly in tune with what’s happening around them, and are self aware to their own detriment. Libras care so much about others’ opinions because they really want to understand all sides of the story. This is a blessing and a curse because though it allows them to be friends with all kinds of people, it also makes others think they’re in bed with the enemy. Super loyal fixed signs couldn’t imagine taking anyone but their loved one’s side, but Libra has a different POV. It’s not that Libras are indecisive or people pleasing or obsessed with playing devil’s advocate, it’s that they’re committed to finding balance, and sometimes that means leaving no opinion stone unturned.

Since October 2023, we’ve been experiencing eclipses in Libra that have brought these ideas of balance and justice to the forefront. Many Libras have left behind toxic relationships and held on to only the best parts of their ability to see a situation from all sides. Remember: just because Libra cares about everyone’s opinion doesn’t mean they agree.

On a night out recently, I met a group of women who were into astrology outside the bar. After telling them I was actually an astrologer for work, they immediately asked me, “So what’s your sign?” When I replied “Pisces,” one of them immediately cooed “Oh my gosh, so sensitive!” Pisces are often stereotyped as the crybabies of the zodiac, the sign that doesn’t only care about others’ opinions but is also overly sensitive to them.

Pisces are highly intuitive. This is because they are the sign most likely to have fluid boundaries when it comes to where they end and others begin. Pisces feel everything and sometimes can minimize their own needs by taking on the needs of others. Pisces care so deeply about other people’s opinions because ultimately they are here to serve, and want to emotionally lift up those around them.

On September 17 we had our first eclipse since 2016 in Pisces. For the next few years while we have eclipses in the mutable water sign, the collective will be connecting to the same open-hearted sensitivity that those born during Pisces season face on the daily. Together we will not only care about others’ opinions but also become more sensitive to them. I see lots of happy crying in our collective future.
