How to Choose The Right Crystal, According to Healing Practitioners

Curious about healing crystals? Yep, us too (especially since we found out that Kate Hudson and Adele are such fans). But as crystal newbies, how are you supposed to pick the right crystal for you? Answer: You don’t choose the crystal. You let the crystal choose you.

So, how do I pick the crystal?

Go into a crystal shop and look around, then see what you’re drawn to. “Your body will respond to a crystal either by sight or feeling,” says healing practitioner Jissel Ravelo of Vibra Wellness. “You will have this urge to touch and hold it. If you are looking at a group of crystals, the one that catches your attention is the right vibrational match for you.” So, whether you need a stone that’s calming, fortune-bringing, heartbreak-healing or something else entirely, the right crystal will find you. Put simply, trust your gut.

What Not toDo:

Don’t overthink it. And don’t worry about researching different crystals and their properties before choosing one. “Look first and read later,” advises Maha Rose healer Luke Simon.

One more thing:

Go slow—you can always grow your collection later. In fact, Ravelo advises that beginners start with just one crystal. “Use it for a week and notice what changes occur in your life or behavior.” The differences may be subtle but positive. Then, you can go back for more (using the same method as above). “Once you have this experience, you’ll be hooked!” Ravelo says. (Who knew that crystals were the spiritual equivalent of Pringles?)
