We Tried the Colgate Optic White Overnight Teeth Whitening Pen—But Does It Actually Work?

PSA: Teeth whitening pens have officially entered the chat. And with the promise of being an easier, less messy (and potentially faster) method than tried-and-true whitening strips, we obviously had to give it a try. 

On this episode of Take My Money, PureWow creator Kate Kesselman finally got her hands on the viral Colgate Optic White Overnight Teeth Whitening Pen ($25; $19) and decided to put it to the test. Plus, she showed viewers at home how to use the whitening pen properly and how to clean it for the best results.

So, is it really possible to see results in just one night? Watch the video below to see her honest review. 

The episode above starts with Kesselman advising viewers to click the pen twenty times before using it. “[We have to do this] to get the serum to move from within the pen to out of the pen,” she says in the video. 

She continues, “Once you do that, you can click the pen once or twice to have enough serum to place on your teeth. Before you use the serum, make sure your teeth are dry.” (Note: You can use a paper towel or any dry cloth for this step.)

Then, Kesselman proceeds to apply the whitening pen to her teeth. “Once you have the serum on the tip of your pen, place it around four teeth and then reload the serum by clicking the top of the pen,” she adds. “Keep doing this. Again, it’ll be around four teeth per click. After each application, wait ten to fifteen seconds and a clear coat should appear around your teeth.”
