Savannah Guthrie has been a huge supporter ever since her Today show co-host, Hoda Kotb, made a major career announcement. And now, it’s Guthrie’s turn to do the announcing.
Earlier this month, the Today show co-host, 52, revealed that her brand-new children’s book, Mostly What God Does is Love You ($14), will hit shelves in February 2025. The story introduces kids to faith in a gentle way that’s meant for all ages.
This isn’t the first time that Guthrie has authored a children’s book. She previously published Princesses Wear Pants ($16) in 2017 and Princesses Save the World ($10) in 2018. In an interview with People magazine, Guthrie shared exclusive details about Mostly What God Does is Love You, which is inspired by her 2024 essay collection (titled Mostly What God Does), and explained how the writing process differs from book to book.
“It just started spilling out of me. Even before I had a contract signed, I was writing and thinking, and the whole process was so exciting and thrilling and felt so alive,” Guthrie said. “I felt like I was learning so much that even if there never was a book at the end of it, the process and the journey was so moving and personal and valuable. It felt like, in a way, something that was happening between me and God.”
She added, “It’s just a sweet goodnight story, but hopefully a message that anyone could use.”
