Fact: A mattress can make or break your sleep schedule. So, it’s no surprise that Queen Elizabeth invested a large chunk of change to ensure she’s as comfortable as possible.
In fact, the 94-year-old monarch has the third most expensive bed in the world, according to the bed specialists at Mattress Next Day. (It currently resides at the queen’s main residence, Buckingham Palace.)
The mattress is known as the “Royal State Bed” by Savoir. Not only does it cost £125,000 (around $161,000), but it’s also a rare find, since only 60 editions of the bed were made.
Per reports, each mattress took more than 700 hours to make. The materials consist of Latin American horse tail, Mongolian cashmere and 1,600 miles of silk thread from Suffolk. For Queen Elizabeth, Savior enlisted the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton to engrave the royal family’s crest above the bed.
