Selena Gomez just channeled Carrie Bradshaw during her latest outing, and you won’t hear me complain about it.
Gomez recently stepped out in New York City, where she hosted an event for her cosmetics company, Rare Beauty. Her dress immediately caught my attention, and it wasn’t because of the outfit’s bright red color. Instead, it was the flower detail on her skirt.
Gomez was wearing a gorgeous red slinky dress, which featured a turtleneck and form-fitting silhouette. The fabric created a knot-like 3D flower on the skirt of the dress, which added a whimsical vibe. The Only Murders in the Building star completed the look with a matching jacket, pumps and a bold red lipstick.
Her ensemble immediately reminded me of Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) from Sex and the City. First of all, the photo was taken in NYC, where Carrie resided for the majority of the show. Plus, the rose detail is strikingly similar to the one that Carrie wore in season six, episode seven (titled “An American Girl in Paris, Part Une”).
In the episode, Carrie traveled to Paris to start her new life with Aleksandr Petrovsky (Mikhail Baryshnikov). When she stepped out on the balcony, she was wearing a black and white striped outfit featuring a flowy skirt and long sleeve top. There was a large flower detail covering the entirety of Carrie’s chest. I couldn’t help but wonder… is Selena taking fashion inspo from the one-and-only Ms. Bradshaw?
Gomez has a lot to celebrate as of late. Not only is she newly engaged to Benny Blanco (did you *see* her ring?), but she also expanded her beauty empire to include a brand-new product: Soft Pinch Matte Bouncy Blush.
