Prince William’s Latest Hospital Visit Has a Special Connection to Kate Middleton

Another day, another royal outing for Prince William.

The Prince of Wales, 42, visited the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, England on March 5 to see how NHS Charities Together’s funds have made a difference. The charity, which William serves as a patron, launched an urgent appeal back in 2020 to help meet the overwhelming needs of frontline staff and volunteers during the pandemic.

While William’s visit to the hospital was a bit somber, given that it’s where the UK’s first COVID-19 victim passed away in March 2020, there’s a personal connection to Kate Middleton here as well—this is the very hospital where she was born in January 1982.

On Instagram, William shared a heartfelt message about the visit, writing, “A heartening visit to Royal Berkshire Hospital to see firsthand the lasting impact of NHS Charities Together’s support over the past five years. Remembering all the staff who lost their lives during the coronavirus pandemic and thanking all those who continue to take care of us. It’s an honour to be joint Patron for @nhscharitiestogether.”

The NHS also took to social media to commemorate the visit, posting several photos of the day and reflecting on the incredible fundraising efforts. “When the pandemic hit in 2020, the British public raised an incredible £162 million for our Covid-19 Urgent Appeal to help the NHS during the most challenging time it had ever faced,” they wrote. “This money has since reached every part of the UK, with 90% of projects continuing to have a long-lasting impact on NHS staff, patients, and communities.”

Although Kate Middleton wasn't with him for this outing (something fans always love to see), people couldn't help but rave about a stunning portrait of Prince William shared on their joint Instagram. In the photo, the Prince of Wales is sitting alone on a wooden bench, hands resting on his knees, with his lips pressed together in what seems like deep thought.

While we may never know exactly what was on his mind, one thing was clear in the comments: "Prince William looks so handsome."
