Queen Camilla and King Charles are currently in full swing on a royal tour of Italy. Arriving on April 7, their visit has been met with a grand reception, complete with a warm welcome from British and Italian representatives, a military band and a tour of some of Italy's most iconic landmarks. Among the places they visited was the Colosseum in Rome, one of the Seven Wonders of the World and a must-see destination for any visitor to the city. So, naturally, the King and Queen made sure to make their way to the ancient structure.
They memorialized the moment with a photo shared on the royal family's Instagram. However, one peek at the picture and I noticed something. Unlike their usual candid shots where they interact with the public or participate in more formal engagements, this particular photo feels more like a snapshot that any traveler visiting the Colosseum would take.
The snapshot, taken from a distance, shows King Charles and Queen Camilla standing side by side, with the Colosseum’s grandeur behind them. It’s a classic tourist pose—nothing wrong with that, of course, but it does break away from the usual polished and formal images typically shared by the royal family.
