Let’s give a warm welcome to Grant Ellis, who has been named the next Bachelor for season 29.

This surprise announcement comes after Monday’s episode of The Bachelorette, where Jenn Tran sent Grant home before the hometown dates. “I want a family. I want to be happy. I want a life. I want to be in love,” Grant revealed after he didn’t receive a rose (per Entertainment Weekly). “I did not think that was going to happen tonight.” And now, Grant has another shot at finding love!

ABC also shared the news on the official Bachelor and Bachelor Nation Instagram pages. Alongside a video that features various clips of the new Bachelor, the caption read, “Drumroll please…! #TheBachelor #TheBachelorette.”

Meanwhile, in the comments section, fans shared their honest reactions to the choice. One person wrote, “The best choice yall could’ve made.” Another follower chimed in and said, “The past two seasons, they have nailed it with the bachelor choice [clapping emoji].”

Grant even made an appearance on Good Morning America and shared what he is looking for in a potential partner. “I'm looking for a love that's kind and understanding. Some qualities I'm looking for in a potential partner is somebody who's adventurous, somebody who's affectionate and somebody who's loving," the Newark native said in a clip shared by the news outlet. "I can't wait for this incredible journey to get kicked off; it's going to be so fun and I hope you guys tune in. Peace!”

The 30-year-old day trader will be the second Black lead of The Bachelor after Matt James made history in season 25. Be sure to mark your calendars because Grant’s season of The Bachelor is expected to premiere on ABC sometime in January 2025.
