Is Meghan Markle Reviving ‘The Tig?’ Signs Point to Yes (and Any Corresponding IG Posts Could Be Quite Lucrative)

From 2014 to 2017, Meghan Markle, 41, ran a lifestyle blog called The Tig, which featured everything from recipes and travel tips to celebrity interviews and fashion inspo. (Its name was derived from “Tignanello,” which is the Duchess of Sussex's favorite type of wine). Then, right before she announced her engagement to Prince Harry, 38, Markle shut down the blog in April 2017, seemingly for good. But could The Tig be coming back? Signs are pointing to yes.

Rumors have begun to swirl suggesting that the duchess might revive the lifestyle site ever since she filed a trademark application for the brand in August 2021. However, due to some errors in the paperwork, the application had to be sent again in February 2022. In March 2023, the New York Post and The Mirror obtained documents from the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office that indicated Markle wanted to revive the site. Now, new research conducted by JeffBet and shared by Express shows another factor that may influence Markle's decision to bring back The Tig: social media.

According to these experts, Markle could make £24,000 per Instagram post (which converts to $29,000 U.S. dollars) if she were to use brand partnerships on the @sussexroyal account she shares with Prince Harry. This number was calculated using the couple's current audience, engagement rate and average likes on IG.

Of course, Markle has been keeping quite busy these past couple years. After she and Prince Harry stepped down from their senior roles as royals, they sealed a major deal with Netflix, which led to the release of their docuseries Harry & Meghan and the upcoming Heart of Invictus. Then, in 2021, the Duchess of Sussex released a best-selling picture book and began an award-winning podcast—titled Archetypes—in 2022.

When The Tig was originally halted in 2017, a source told PEOPLE: The Tig has been a labor of love for Meghan, but it’s a full-time job. She wants to focus [on] this season of Suits, which [is] just starting filming and spending more time in the field on her philanthropy.”

We'll be curious to see if Markle does revamp The Tig, which would take up a big chunk of her time.

The Royally Obsessed podcast hosts, Rachel Bowie and Roberta Fiorito, sure think there's a strong possibility we'll see The Tig again. In an episode from March, Fiorito said, “I just feel like it has to be coming back because of the copyright and the trademarking patents that have been filed.” Bowie agreed, adding, “Meghan is in a new place in her life.”

We guess only time will tell (but we'll be keeping our fingers crossed).
