I take in a lot of Broadway shows (I sometimes even take in six in a single week). And occasionally, there are big celebs in the audience. Last night, audience members at Broadway's smash-hit Gypsy may just have noticed a famous face in the crowd: Meghan Markle. And though I didn't catch the exact same performance as her, I did catch Gypsy earlier in its run—and Markle's review of the show is identical to mine.
Meghan Markle Just Saw the Same Broadway Show as Me—and I Couldn't Agree with Her Review More
"Full body chills"

Today, Markle posted a photo from her visit to the show on her newly arrived Instagram account. In the image, she is embracing Gypsy star Audra McDonald (who I'm convinced is about to win a Tony...probably).
Below the post, the Duchess of Sussex shared her review. She wrote, "If you get a chance to see @gypsybway, you absolutely must. Congratulations to the tremendously talented cast and crew for creating magic on that stage."
She continued, "And meeting @audramcdonald for the first time last night….[crying emoji]."
The duchess ended the review, "Her performance will leave you absolutely speechless. Full body chills. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house, and if the theater didn’t have to close for the night, the standing ovation would still be happening."
Some might argue Markle's review is a little over the top—but not me. She is absolutely right.

In my own review of the show, I wrote that McDonald "gives a tour de force performance as Mama Rose in the latest production of Gypsy. (I say 'latest' production, as there have been two other iconic productions in recent history—one starring Patti LuPone and the other starring Bernadette Peters. Don't even think about asking me to choose a favorite.) Not only is it impossible to take your eyes off McDonald's Rose, but it's hard not to notice just how much she owns the role, fully making it her own."
"Yes, the show is good. Yes, the performances and the singing and the dancing and the staging are solid. But this is McDonald's Gypsy. By the time 'Rose's Turn' finally arrives, the audience is waiting for it, begging for it. And, man, does she deliver."
In short, like Meghan, I freaking loved it.
McDonald also posted a photo of Markle's visit on Instagram. Along with several photos featuring the royal mom of two backstage, McDonald wrote, "Thank you dear @meghan, it was a joy having you spend the evening with us at @gypsybway!"
Two icons in one room? Incredible.
