The purpose behind the tennis outing (and match) involved raising awareness and Princess Kate and Federer learning what the teens who are a part of the Ball Boys and Girls program do to train for matches and competitions.
This is certainly not the first time Princess Kate has played against Federer on the tennis court. Last year, the mother of three played against the athlete in a planned charity match to help raise money for two charities she cares for deeply: Action for Children and the LTA Foundation.
The duo also teamed up with Laver Cup to sponsor a charitable event called “Open Practice Day,” in which fans can have a chance to watch players from Team Europe and Team World practice.
You go, Kate!
