Kate Middleton looked somber during her recent return to royal duties, but I noticed something interesting about her facial expressions.
Over the weekend, the Princess of Wales attended the Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall. Although the royal looked like a total pro during her potentially stressful return to the spotlight, it was her genuine smile that really caught my attention.
The Princess of Wales looked uncomfortable at times, but she never let her smile fade. Body language expert Darren Stanton agreed with this observation and confirmed that Princess Catherine’s expression spoke volumes about her true feelings during the festivities.
“The most striking thing that we see non-verbally from Kate is a fantastic smile. Her whole face is engaged and her eyes are engaged,” Stanton told PureWow (on behalf of Spin Genie). “The eyes are a window to the soul, they are engaged showing she is very much in the moment and enjoying being in the presence of others. Kate is showing a real shine to her, she looks radiant and has a great presence here and looks very happy to be back in the fold and back to her usual duties.”
Stanton also discussed the hidden meaning behind the color of Princess Catherine’s dress. “Kate tends to favor red or blue, her superhero colors, when she goes for blue she usually chooses a vibrant blue,” he explained. “The fact that she’s gone for a much deeper shade is significant as it signifies tranquility, calmness and being grounded.”
The expert continued, “It’s about introspection. Usually when she wants to be bold and stand out, she’ll wear red but instead this is completely indicative of somebody that hasn’t been at a public event in a significant time and is now finding her feet again. Her outfit conveys this internal feeling of hers.”
