Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are raising awareness about a heartfelt Olympic love story.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s official Archewell website recently shared a new blog post. In the exclusive interview (read it here), Tara Davis and her boyfriend, Hunter Woodhall, discussed their joint Olympic experience. While Davis placed six in the women’s long jump at the Tokyo games, Woodhall will compete in the Paralympic 400 and 100-meter dash next month.

“I’m most excited that we’ll be there together,” he explained. “This will be my second games, but to be able to share it with the person I’m closest with in the entire world is really, really special.”

While discussing their relationship, Woodhall said, “I want people to know we’re just two normal people. We bring a lot of diversity into our relationship, and we want to be really transparent about that. Tara is a woman of color. I have a disability. We want people to know that whoever you are, whatever situation you’re in…it’s okay and that’s what makes you special and unique.”

He continued, “Be proud of yourself and go chase your dream. We’re living proof that if you put your mind to it and put in the work, crazy, wild things can happen.”

When asked to share advice for future competitors, Woodhall revealed that no accomplishment is too small. “Whatever it is that you want to do, just start,” he explained. “We often see the end goal; we see Olympians. But you have to start somewhere.”

Davis added, “And make sure you’re always having fun while doing it. There are difficult moments, but if you’re having fun, it’s all worth it.”

Thank you, Harry and Meghan, for shining a spotlight on this inspirational story.
