Wine spritzers have come a long way from the blush-toned sugar bombs advertised alongside wine coolers in the ‘90s. And as easy as they are to make yourself—a spritz is really just a combo of wine, soda and ice, which you can gussy up with additional flavorings or liqueurs—the latest canned options on the market are so well-balanced you can save yourself the step of tinkering with booze ratios or playing backyard bartender at your next cookout (after all, you’ve got enough on your mind, managing the party playlist, grill and cornhole competition).

To us, a decent wine spritzer is one that’s crisp and refreshing, providing a sweet alternative to beer that isn’t syrupy or cloying. It’s something you can sip during a summer party without feeling weighed down; a bit tamer than spiked seltzer but still offering a little buzz. After taste-testing more than a dozen canned wine blends on the market, here are our picks for the best wine spritzers of 2022, based on their value, balance of flavors (and effervescence), quality of ingredients, flavor and aroma.

The Best Canned Wine for Every Palate (Whether You’re Into Red, White or Rosé)

1. Ramona Blood Orange Wine Spritz

Best Overall

  • Value: 18/20
  • Quality: 20/20
  • Aroma: 20/20
  • Flavor: 19/20
  • Finish: 19/20

TOTAL: 95/100

It’s vegan! It’s gluten free! It’s low in sulfites! But what really makes Ramona shine is how balanced its flavors are, particularly the Blood Orange Spritz. We worried it’d taste bitter, but the raspberry and hibiscus notes even things out nicely, creating a complex drink that goes down easy.

2. Loverboy Passion Fruit & Guava

Most Refreshing

  • Value: 17/20
  • Quality: 18/20
  • Aroma: 20/20
  • Flavor: 20/20
  • Finish: 19/20

TOTAL: 94/100

Close your eyes, take a sip of Loverboy’s Passion Fruit & Guava Spritz, and you may think you’re in the tropics, not lounging in the backyard with your feet in the kiddie pool. Seriously, this sweet, bubbly drink is like a sippable vacation. It’s “kissed with honeysuckle,” but its tropical flavors really take the lead. If you can’t resist a strawberry daiquiri or tiki drink come summertime, this bev’s for you.

3. Roseade

Most Lemonade-Like

  • Value: 18/20
  • Quality: 17/20
  • Aroma: 17/20
  • Flavor: 18/20
  • Finish: 19/20

TOTAL: 89/100

When you’re craving something as refreshing as a glass of lemonade (albeit one that could only be served at the adults’ table), look no further. Roseade starts out a little tart, then transitions to a smooth, sweet finish. The Australian drink is gluten free, with a bit higher ABV than your typical spritzer (8 percent, to be exact). In keeping with that fresh-squeezed lemonade vibe, we preferred it over ice.

4. Space Age Meyer Lemon Strawberry Rosé Wine Spritz

Best Fruity Spritz

  • Value: 19/20
  • Quality: 17/20
  • Aroma: 18/20
  • Flavor: 18/20
  • Finish: 18/20

TOTAL: 90/100

Your LaCroix-obsessed friend will thank you endlessly for introducing her to Space Age’s Meyer Lemon Strawberry Rosé Spritz. It’s like a strawberry and lemon-infused seltzer, only spiked with rosé to give it a little kick (as in, 5.5 percent ABV kick). The brut finish is clean, making this a great drink to cut through saucy pulled pork, fatty briskets and other barbecue staples.

5. House Wine Ginger Mule Cocktail

Best Wine Cocktail

  • Value: 18/20
  • Quality: 19/20
  • Aroma: 18/20
  • Flavor: 19/20
  • Finish: 19/20

TOTAL: 93/100

We may be pushing the limits here, but technically, a spritzer is a wine cocktail (albeit a lighter one). House Wine’s riff on a Moscow mule is twice as boozy as most spritzes—clocking in at 12.5 percent ABV—but it earned a spot on our list because nobody believed a Moscow mule this good could come from a can, let alone have a wine base. It has just the right amount of fizz, gingery kick and boozy buzz on the backend to remind you of that $12 cocktail you ordered at a downtown speakeasy, only at a quarter of the price (one can is equal to two drinks).

6. Yes Way Rosé Blueberry + Lavender Spritz

Best Floral Spritz

  • Value: 19/20
  • Quality: 18/20
  • Aroma: 20/20
  • Flavor: 18/20
  • Finish: 19/20

TOTAL: 94/100

If you’re planning a bridal shower or pinkies-up brunch, skip the mimosa bar and put a few packs of Yes Way Rosé’s latest offering on ice. The brand offers a few spritzes, but its blueberry + lavender variety stands out for its light, floral-meets-herbal notes. It’s arguably the most sophisticated drink you can buy in a can. Plus, it clocks in at 5 percent alcohol per volume, with 5 grams of sugar per can, so Nana can down the whole can without getting so riled up she starts dancing on the table during Bridal Bingo.

7. Coastal Pineapple Rosé Spritz

Most Effervescent

  • Value: 20/20
  • Quality: 18/20
  • Aroma: 18/20
  • Flavor: 18/20
  • Finish: 18/20

TOTAL: 92/100

We all have that friend who celebrates summer with a seltzer in one hand and a glass of rosé in the other (maybe you are that friend). Never make them choose between their faves again with Coastal's Pineapple Rosé Spritz, which starts out bubbly and crisp and ends with a sweet, fresh pineapple finish. Each 12-ounce can clocks in at 100 calories with 5 percent ABV, but the real feel-good aspect of this drink is that a portion of each sale benefits the Ocean Foundation, which works to clean and preserve our shores.
