Netflix Drops ‘The Circle’ Season 2 Trailer & There’s a Major New Twist

Remember The Circle, a popular reality show that follows a group of contestants who’ve never actually met in real life, since all their communication is done through a social networking app? Well, it’s back with an all-new twist.

Netflix just dropped the first official trailer for The Circle season two, which addresses the age-old question: Who is (and isn’t) a catfish?

Similar to season one, the competition series documents the contestants as they get to know each other online. Unlike previous installments, the new episodes feature a few familiar faces—like Too Hot to Handle alum Chloe Veitch, who (shockingly) isn’t a catfish.

The Circle is back. And this time, it’s more strategic than ever,” the narrator says in the clip. “To stay in the game, players must become popular. And to do that, they can be real or try to fool everyone with a fake profile.”

The goal of The Circle is to avoid getting eliminated from the social networking app. This can be done only if their peers believe their online profile accurately represents them as a person. After each round, the eliminated player reveals their identity to one remaining participant, creating a mystery element that drives paranoia.

The trailer concludes with another shocking twist, teasing that former NSYNC member Lance Bass might join in on the fun. Cue “Bye Bye Bye.”

The Circle season two will premiere on Netflix on April 14, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday until the finale on May 5.
