Before Meghan Markle joined the royal family, she starred on a legal drama, Suits, that’s now gaining popularity on Netflix.
This Meghan Markle Drama Is the New #3 Show on Netflix
The first eight seasons of the legal drama just hit the streaming service on June 17, and the series has already claimed the number three spot on Netflix’s list of most-watched shows. (It’s currently ranked behind 85 South: Ghetto Legends and Black Mirror but ahead of Never Have I Ever, Our Planet II and The Surrogacy.)
Suits is about a corporate lawyer named Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), who’s forced to adapt when a new partner joins the firm. His team consists of himself and three other powerful attorneys, and they work together while maintaining personal and professional relationships.
Markle portrays a supporting character named Rachel Zane, a lawyer who’s trying to break free of her father’s shadow. (Her dad is a famous attorney.) Although Rachel is opposed to dating a coworker, she soon meets and develops a close-knit bond with another lawyer, Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams).
Suits originally premiered back in 2011 on USA Network. It ran for seven seasons before Markle announced that she was exiting the show. The show continued without her for two more seasons, and the episodes featured a new lawyer: Samantha Wheeler (Katherine Heigl).
Other cast members include Sarah Rafferty (Donna Paulsen), Rick Hoffman (Louis Litt), Gina Torres (Jessica Pearson), Amanda Schull (Katrina Bennett), Wendell Pierce (Robert Zane), Dulé Hill (Alex Williams), Aloma Wright (Gretchen Bodinski) and Rachael Harris (Sheila Sazs).
Let the binge-watch marathon commence.
