Simone Biles's boyfriend-turned-husband, Jonathan Owens, has been popping up on the Olympian's Instagram feed pretty often these days—and it's easy to see why.

After three years of touching tributes and PDA moments, Biles and her husband announced on April 22 of last year that they officially tied the knot. The pair exchanged their vows in an intimate courthouse wedding in Texas—and they even shared a series of stunning wedding photos. On her Instagram page, Biles captioned her post, "I do [white heart emoji] officially Owens [white heart emoji]." Meanwhile, Owens wrote in the comments, "Wifey got a great ring to it. First day of forever."

The big news came over a year after the pair announced their engagement in February 2022. But who exactly is Biles's husband? From his career beginnings to how he met the athlete, here's what I know about the NFL player.

SIMONE BILES JUST BROKE *ANOTHER* MAJOR RECORD LAST NIGHT

1. Who Is Simone Biles’s Husband, Jonathan Owens?

Owens, 29, is currently a football safety for the Chicago Bears. Raised in St. Louis, MO, the NFL player's football career started in high school, when he played at Christian Brothers College. Then, he went on to play defensive back for Missouri Western State University.

Owens signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2018. He also played for the Houston Texans and the Green Bay Packers before joining the Chicago Bears.

2. Owens Wanted to Be a Doctor

According to his profile on Missouri Western State University's official athletics page, Owens majored in pre-physical therapy and made the academic honor roll. His dream job at the time? To become a doctor.

3. He Had No Idea Who Biles Was When They First Met

According to Texas Monthly, Owens and Biles first met on social media in March of 2020—right before the onset of the pandemic. But apparently, he wasn't yet aware of the gymnast's legendary status. He told the outlet, "Her work ethic was really the first thing that caught my eye. I never really watched gymnastics before I first started talking to her. When I met her, I honestly didn’t know who she was."

He continued, “We ended up hanging out right before the pandemic. It was one of the few times in her life where everything was just shut off and she couldn’t do anything. So we used it to get to know each other—really get to know each other. It created our bond and made it stronger. Now I’m so thankful."

4. Owens Described Their Relationship as a "Match Made in Heaven"

During the same interview with Texas Monthly, Owens revealed that he fell head over heels because of her personality. He said, "Her energy is something. She’s always happy, giggly, bubbly. If I’ve had a tough day at the office, I wouldn’t want to take that home to her."

He added, "This was a match made in heaven. There’s no better person for me. She loves me, she’s so affectionate. I just love that. And it’s just intoxicating seeing how much work she puts into everything." It sounds like Cupid outdid himself with these two.

5. Owens Is Super Supportive of Biles

If you recall, Owens was right there to cheer Biles on when she claimed her record seventh national women's all-around gymnastics title. He even took to Instagram and shared a sweet tribute that read, "First time getting to watch you compete in person and you didn’t disappoint. It’s so cool that i get to watch you do what you love, and be the best at that! I’m so proud of you my lil champ. Trials up next and you already know I’m there!! Love you baby."

Similarly, Biles has also been showing her support for Owens by attending his games. In one post from 2020, she posed with Brittani Powe (NFL player Scott Phillips's fiancée) while sporting a jacket with Owens's name and jersey number. She wrote, "They’ve got our backs and we’ve got theirs."

If you've been keeping up with this year's Olympic Games, then you may have also noticed Owens cheering his wife on via social media. Although he couldn't see her in person for the qualifying round, he was there for the team final. He told Yahoo! Sports, "I can’t wait to be able to support her."

6. Owens Has a Massive Chest Tattoo

On Instagram, the athlete shared a romantic post that included a clear view of his large chest tattoo. As for the story behind his ink, he told Essentially Sports the words are taken from Matthew 17:20.

The lines read: “He replied, ‘Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.’”

7. Owens Is a Proud Dog Dad

A passion for sports isn't the only thing that Owens has in common with Biles. Like the famous gymnast, he's also a big lover of dogs.

Owens has a bulldog named Zeus and even runs an Instagram account, @zeusthebulldog36, on his behalf. Naturally, the page is filled with fun snaps of Zeus playing, and the official bio reads, "Most energetic English Bulldog you’ve ever met. I love food, chewing on anything i can find, and taking long naps. Son to @jowens_3. Aspiring model."

A talented athlete and caring dog dad? I can see why Simone said "yes" to Jonathan.
