Director Paul Feig Reveals His Favorite Scene That Got Cut from ‘Bridesmaids’

When it comes to making people laugh, no one does it quite like famous film and TV director Paul Feig.

PureWow recently spoke with the director about his upcoming event—a virtual watch-along of his film Bridesmaids, during which he’ll spill behind-the-scenes secrets over a couple of specialty cocktails. For every person tuning into the special, which takes place Thursday, September 24 at 8 p.m., Artingstall’s (Feig’s gin company) will donate $1 to Family Promise, helping families who are experiencing homelessness.

During the chat, the 58-year-old opened up about what it was like working on the film almost ten years ago (we know, we can’t believe it either).

“It was a very fun movie to make, especially during a time when there weren’t a lot of comedies with an all-female cast,” Feig told PureWow. “There was a lot of pressure on it because the town hadn’t really done a movie that was that female-fronted before, so they were kind of on a holding pattern to see how we did commercially. That cast was just so wonderful to work with. And the camaraderie was so strong. Everyone wanted to make sure they all came off their best. In that regard, it was a very stress-free production.”

Unfortunately, not all of the footage actually made it into the film. In fact, there was one scene in particular that Feig wished didn’t get the ax. Oh, and did we mention it involved Paul Rudd?

“We had a couple of very funny dates-gone-bad scenes for Kristen's character,” he continued. “Paul Rudd was seemingly the perfect guy who then turns out to have anger issues when he gets his finger run over at an ice skating rink and goes crazy trying to get the kid who did it.”

We can't wait for Feig to spill even more details during tomorrow’s big event.
