This Psychological Thriller Is #3 on Netflix, and It's a Wild Ride

There's a new series taking over Netflix, and it’s causing quite a ruckus.

ICYMI, it’s a Spanish-language thriller called The Gardener, and boy is it a wild ride. The plot, you ask? A rather stoic hitman named Elmer, who generally operates with no regard for human life, is commissioned to kill a young woman named Violeta as his next assignment. There’s one major problem though—he’s having a hard time completing his mission because he’s starting to fall in love with her. Another problem? His boss (the person who commissioned him) is also his…mother. Typically what mom says always goes, but Elmer experiencing true feelings of love for the first time has his heart going in a different direction.

Created by Miguel Sáez Carral, the series stars Álvaro Rico, Cecilia Suárez and Catalina Sopelana, and currently holds the number three spot on Netflix’s top ten series list. While there haven't been very many Rotten Tomatoes ratings submitted yet, the fan reactions have been positive thus far, with one saying, "If you enjoyed You, then you will enjoy The Gardener. The series really excels when the lead character, Elmer, is in the scene. Violeta was enjoyable to watch and a good addition. The writing was fairly good with a few plot holes left open." Another viewer adds, "The ending was unexpected and seems like Netflix could renew it for a new season."

Aside from the intense drama, viewers will also be captivated by the scenery, as the show was filmed in stunning locations like Pontevedra, Toledo and Madrid, which adds an emotional depth to the romantic scenes between Elmer and Violeta.

While The Gardener may be in the third spot right now, interest is growing each day, so I fully expect the rating to rise by the end of the week.
