1. How to Watch the Met Gala Red Carpet

Details haven't been confirmed just yet, but the 2024 Met Gala will likely be available to stream on Vogue's website. Typically, the event is broadcast on the publication's social media accounts, including X (formerly Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The Vogue team also shares their commentary on the best red carpet looks, which fans can access on their blog.

For last year's ceremony, E! hosted a live red carpet special, titled E! Live from the Red Carpet. Erin Lim Rhodes and Wisdom Kaye served as presenters and chatted with stars like Simu Liu and Irina Shayk.

3. What Is This Year's Theme?

The theme for this year’s Met Gala is Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, and the dress code is “The Garden of Time.” The exhibit will include 250 items spanning four centuries of fashion history, featuring designs by Schiaparelli, Dior and Givenchy.

According to the official website, the pieces will be "visually united by iconography related to nature, which will serve as a metaphor for the fragility and ephemerality of fashion and a vehicle to examine the cyclical themes of rebirth and renewal. The exhibition will breathe new life into these storied objects through creative and immersive activations designed to convey the smells, sounds, textures and motions of garments that can no longer directly interact with the body."

4. Who Are This Year's Hosts?

Per usual, the 2024 Met Gala will have a star-studded line-up of hosts, including Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth. All four celebs, in addition to Vogue’s Anna Wintour, will serve as this year’s official co-chairs. The honorary chairs are TikTok CEO Shou Chew and Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson.

This will mark Hemsworth's first year at the Met Gala. Meanwhile, Lopez has attended 13 times, Zendaya five times and Bad Bunny twice.

5. What Celebs Will Attend the Event?

The guest list is typically kept under wraps until the day before the event, but besides the A-list roster of co-chairs, we can likely expect last year’s attendees—including Serena Williams, Lizzo and Kristen Stewart—to make a reappearance.

The event usually includes about 600 guests, from designers and musicians to Hollywood stars. Fingers crossed that Rihanna will bring her iconic fashion to the fundraiser.

6. What Was the Theme of Last Year's Met Gala?

The theme for last year’s Met Gala was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” or “In Honor of Karl.” The exhibit honored the fashion designer’s best work from his decades-long career, and the celebrity co-chairs included Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Dua Lipa and Roger Federer.

According to the site's official description, the exhibit examined the work of Lagerfeld, "focusing on the designer’s stylistic vocabulary as expressed in aesthetic themes that appear time and again in his fashions from the 1950s to his final collection in 2019." Several stars paid homage to the famous designer by including his signature motifs, from chic black-and-white ensembles to Chanel tweed. But perhaps our favorite look of the night was Rihanna's ornate Pierpaolo Piccioli dress, which featured oversized white roses.

We can't wait to see what this year's red carpet brings.
